ParticipantHello, I installed the Importer Bundle and everything has activated fine. I read all the instructions and tweaked everything to my liking. I’ve now commenced error testing and found that the “Near” section in the filter bar isn’t returning any results. I’ve tried searching via postcode, state, city and even country and they don’t say any results. I’ve run a test and attached screenshots to show you how even when I search for an event I absolutely know is listed it still doesn’t come back when I enter it in the NEAR field. When I enter the same suburb in the SEARCH field it shows a result.
I’ve read every Support page related to this but I can’t find any solution listed. Please advise.

ParticipantHi Cliff, thank you for your response. I do appreciate it and I understand there is nothing I can do at this time. However, I did actually buy the PRO version purely for this feature. If it doesn’t work, what do you suggest I do about my subscription? Can the PRO part of my subscription be put on hold to commence after there is a fix? Thank you.

MemberHere’s an idea… try creating a fake/demo event (several months in the future if you don’t want it being displayed to your users) assigned to a Venue with an address in the USA, such as Atlanta, Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, etc.
Then search “Near” that city name — it should even autocomplete your typed entry.
If this works, then it’s definitely the same bug we’ve been dealing with for a long time now.
Let me know how it goes for you.

ParticipantHi Cliff,
Ok so I followed your instructions and it seemed to have worked, screenshot attached. So does that mean it’s only locations outside of the USA that is not working?
Thank you

MemberAlright, check out this short video: https://cl.ly/1U1V1u2g1y2t
So I’d say the issue is that your theme or another plugin is causing the “Near” search to not perform as expected, which is to offer “UK” or “Australia” suggestions before allowing the search to execute.
Therefore, I’d suggest following our recommended troubleshooting steps:
Please make sure all your Modern Tribe plugins (and WordPress core) are at their latest versions?
Once you verify you’re on the latest versions, please test to see if the issue is still happening for you.
If it is, please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide (basically switch to TwentySixteen theme and deactivate all plugins and custom code other than Modern Tribe plugins) and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.
If it doesn’t, please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG and share any PHP errors you see while changing tickets quantity, navigating your site’s home page, events page, single-event pages, and any other of your site’s pages relevant to this ticket.
Then, please share your System Information (while in Testing for Conflicts mode).
You might also see if you can spot any console errors at your site. (If needed, you may reference our KB article Using Google Chrome Developer Tools.)
Let us know what you find out.
Thanks.

ParticipantOk I’m up to the “Testing for Conflicts” part of your suggestions above. I’m finding it is working inconsistently. I feel very wary of continuing by deactivating all plugins and custom code – I have a lot of custom code and currently don’t have a developer to help me with fixing anything that may go wrong with the other functions of my site. I’ll have to try find someone who can help me with this. I really can’t afford to break my entire site for one bug that may be something you are already working to fix. Would you be able to leave this thread open until I get back to you? Thank you

MemberI understand. If you need some coding help, you may want to reference our documentation and list of known customizers.
Since this thread is Pending Fix status, it should not get auto-Closed until a reply about the fix being released is added and its status is manually changed to Closed.
That being said, the bug ticket assigned to this thread is probably more along the lines of being region-biased. In other words, the fix for this bug is to add a user-configurable “region” (such as USA, the default, UK, Australia, etc) but it likely won’t help your autocompletes not popping up if your Venues are already in the USA.

ParticipantAre you aware of any of your plugins not being compatible with the Custom Fields plugin? We’ve had some problems with that plugin since installing the purchased plugins from you guys and I’m wondering if it could also be the reason your plugins aren’t working at 100% for me either?

MemberI don’t know of any custom field plugin that conflicts with our plugins, but could you please provide a link to the plugin you’re inquiring about so we can be on the same page?

MemberThank you.
We know of many people using ACF in addition to our plugin, but our latest release did solve one conflict with relationship panels and events.
I’d suggest following our recommended troubleshooting steps:

MemberHi There!
Just wanted to share with you that you can set the region and language biasing with the following snippet:
https://gist.github.com/cliffordp/c7c2713e9f61166e9aef746823be6bfa
We recommend the following guide for best practices when implementing custom code snippets like this one > https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/implementing-custom-code-snippets/
I hope that helps to improve the Near filter functionality for your site. Don’t hesitate to open a new topic if anything comes up.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
