I have a client that requires the following functionality on their wordpress site for booking class sessions:
The client offers tutoring on a class basis with a certain amount of seats available for each session. They offer 3 types of session – morning/afternoon/full day sessions.

Can your plugin offer a maximum number of seats for each session/event so they don’t get over subscribed?
Would the number of seats available be displayed in the calendar for each session/event?
If an end user books 1x full day then we would need the morning and afternoon sessions availability to be reduced by 1 each as well. Can your plugin offer this?

Need end users to be able to book more than 1 session – For example an end user could choose 7 sessions at different times/dates and then pay for all 7 in one go?
Otherwise would end users have to put there registration details in 7 times to book 7 sessions and have 7 transactions from their payment method?

Need to have additional fields that we can use on the registration form – such as checkboxes, drop downs and text fields?
Its not a deal breaker but please advise if these fields offer conditional logic so if a user picks a certain field from the dropdowns can it the form then ask a specific question?

Does your plgin have some form of events dashboard so an administrator could easily see how many attendees there are at each event/session?

What payment methods are included with this plugin and can we offer more than one payment method for each event?

Please advise what package(s) i need for the above?

    Thanks
    Jamie

Hello Jamie and thanks for getting in touch! I hope one of our tickets add-ons will do the trick for you here and I’m happy to answer your questions. ๐Ÿ™‚

Can your plugin offer a maximum number of seats for each session/event so they donโ€™t get over subscribed?

Yes, any of the ticketing add-ons allows you to set a ceiling for the number of tickets that are available for each event. Please note that if you have multiple types of tickets for an events (i.e. General Admission and VIP), then those are treated as separate inventories rather than sharing the same pool of seats. That could certainly lead to overbooking if not monitored.

Would the number of seats available be displayed in the calendar for each session/event?

Not by default, but there is a functionย that would allow you to display a remaining number of tickets in the event.

If an end user books 1x full day then we would need the morning and afternoon sessions availability to be reduced by 1 each as well. Can your plugin offer this?

Unfortunately, no. At the moment, each event accounts for its own supply of tickets and those inventories cannot be shared between events though it is something we have started working on.

Need end users to be able to book more than 1 session โ€“ For example an end user could choose 7 sessions at different times/dates and then pay for all 7 in one go?

Once a ticket has been added to the cart, the user can either continue “shopping” or check out from there. So, yes, multiple tickets can be purchased at once regardless of which ticketing solution you choose and which eCommerce platform it corresponds to.

Need to have additional fields that we can use on the registration form โ€“ such as checkboxes, drop downs and text fields?

This is likely the deal breaker for you. Additional fields are not currently accepted during checkout. In other words, the only information that is collecting is what the eCommerce platform captures during checkout. You may be able to integrate additional fields in checkout using something like Gravity Forms, but then that information still has to be attached to its respective ticket somehow. That said, we are currently testing this feature and hope to have it released in the near future.

Does your plgin have some form of events dashboard so an administrator could easily see how many attendees there are at each event/session?

Yes, you can click an “Attendees” link on an event and see how many tickets have been sold, how many are available, who has checked into the event, and who purchased the tickets. From there, you can export a list of attendees as well.

What payment methods are included with this plugin and can we offer more than one payment method for each event?

This depends entirely on the eCommerce platform you choose. For example, our WooCommerce Tickets ticketing add-on integrates with WooCommerce, which accepts just about any payment method with the proper payment gateway configuration.

Does this help answer your questions? Please let me know and thanks again for reaching out!

    Thanks Geoff for your assistance.

Regarding your answer “Additional fields are not currently accepted during checkout. In other words, the only information that is collecting is what the eCommerce platform captures during checkout.”

I was thinking of purchasing both Woocommerce Tickets and the Pro version of Events Calendar. The Pro version of Events calendar states that you can add additional fields on the event and is one of the main features of the Pro version.
Are you saying the Events Calendar Pro version would still not allow you to add additional fields on the booking?

    Just another quick question

If the Pro version does not offer additional fields that transfers to the booking then would we be able to extend functionality using another plugin connected to Woocommerce, one that allows extra product options?

I like the look of your product, but I can not create tickets with woocommerce. Is there any documentation or assistance to show how to get the ticket creation process to work in our site?

Hey Jamie and thanks for following up!

Are you saying the Events Calendar Pro version would still not allow you to add additional fields on the booking?

Unfortunately, no. The additional fields are purely for you on the back-end to display information about the event on the front-end. Any additional fields collecting during checkout would need to be collected by the eCommerce plugin which, in this case, would be WooCommerce. Even then, that information would have to be hooked into events somehow, which can get tricky.

The good news is that we have started working on the ability to do exactly this and are currently starting the testing period for it. I don’t have a firm release date for you, but we are expecting it in a matter of weeks rather than months, if all goes well in testing.

I hope this helps–did you have any other questions about how the ticket process works that I can help with? Let me know know and I’d be happy to answer as best I can. ๐Ÿ™‚

@Brian, thanks for reaching out as well. We do have aย new user primer specifically for WooCommerce Tickets. Give that a go and please feel free to open a new thread of your own here in the forums if you have any questions from there.

    Cheers!

Thanks for your assistance regarding this but this project needs to be up and running by the end of November. As soon as Events Pro launches the additional fields feature for bookings then will upgrade onto Pro however am worried that this may not be released in time so wanted to have the following for now:
Events Plugin (and ability to upgrade to Pro once additional fields feature released)
    WooCommerce Tickets addon
Use a 3rd party plugin thats fully compatible with Woocommerce that provides “extra product options” – these options are only relevant in terms of gathering data from the customer whilst checking out and do not need to work directly with Events but rather the info in the additional fields will be emailed to us via Woocommerce usual order emails and attached to the customers account dealt with by Woocommerce.

I know you cant speak for other plugins but in your opinion does the above sound like a plan?

    Hi Jamie!

Just to be clear: you doย not need Events Calendar PRO to sell tickets and the additional ticket fields will be part of a different and new plugin altogether.

The Events Calendar (free) and WooCommerce Tickets is all you will need to start creating events and selling tickets for them in the meantime.

You’re exactly right: I personally am unsure if there are any 3rd party plugins that will help achieve the additional fields for products you’re looking for with tickets. However, I do know that WooCommerce has a pretty generous refund policy if things do not work out, as do we.

Does this help clarify things a little further? Let me know. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Cheers!
