The last couple updates have left us with MANY issues when trying to add or edit events. All these issues are showing up on the back end when you are in WordPress editing the events. I may add that the most recent version of Event Tickets Plus won’t even load at all! The following error message comes up: “An error occurred while updating Event Tickets Plus: Download failed. cURL error 61: Unrecognized content encoding type. libcurl understands deflate, gzip content encodings.”

But the following is more urgent. We can’t ADD or EDIT any events in the meantime due to multiple errors. If these issues are not resolved in a timely manner (I have waited weeks now!) in both Events Calendar Pro and Event Tickets Plus we are going to ask for our money back so we can go to a different provider.

Description is blank – can select text to see it in blue, but it won’t show up otherwise. Also can’t toggle from Visual to text views.

Under Time & Date it says “Are you sure you want to delete these events? Are you sure you want to delete this exclusion?” when you open EVERY event.

No Venue or Organizer is shown, and no drop-downs to change Venue or Organizer.

Tickets aren’t showing up, and you can’t add or see any existing tickets.

These same issues occur when I try to add a new event, so I can’t add or edit or replace ANY events or event tickets. Needs fixed ASAP!

I have tried updating all plugins, WordPress version, etc. and have looked through forums for similar problems and run suggested tests and measures, no dice. We have Events Calendar PRO and Event Tickets PRO and are running WordPress 4.9.1

See screenshots below for confirmation of errors.

Thanks so much for reaching out!

As a first step, let’s try to rule out if there is some type of conflict at play.
    This is usually because of:

    1.    A conflict with another plugin

    2.    A conflict with your WordPress theme

    3.    A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating

When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.

A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.

The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.

Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.

But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:

    1.    Make a backup of your database

    2.    Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)

Let me know how that goes!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

Turning off all other plugins had no effect. When I went to change the theme to “Twenty Sixteen” it didn’t show up, only “Virtue” theme and “Virtue Premium” and “Virtue Child” (which is the one we have activated). I flushed browser history with no effect. Please understand I am a librarian, not a website developer, so I’m only doing my best here with a website I was handed to maintain! Your plugins have been good so far, but we have no way of fixing the mess they are right now without your help, and no way of updating or editing our events, since we are relying on your plugins. Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, but we must have further help on this and soon, as we are wanting to put our next season’s events on our calendar now and can’t.

I’m sorry to hear that you are still experiencing these issues!  As for the Twentysixteen theme, are you seeing the theme available at all in Appearance < Themes?  If so, are you able to/can you see the Activate button if you hover over the theme?  If so, can you click it?

Otherwise you can try to re-download the theme by clicking Add New under Themes and search for Twentyseventeen.  Once you do that, try switching to that theme and seeing if the issue still occurs.

Let me know how it goes and if you have any other questions along the way!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

Okay, I tried the twentyseventeen theme – not only were the SAME ISSUES there with events calendar, but now my website is messed up. (I reverted back to our original theme Virtue Child but there are some customizations which I don’t know how to re-apply. So now I have a ticket in to our helpdesk to try to find a way to revert the changes I made this morning…)

At any rate, I have tried all the usual venues to get this plugin fixed that you suggested with no effect. You can see from the screenshots before that I can’t edit events and there are some major issues going. Is there any way to step up the support and get this fixed? I am sorry I have no clue how to fix code or anything – I’m only a librarian who got handed the website to maintain.

I’m sorry to hear that switching to a default theme on your site caused additional issues.  As I mentioned in a previous reply, it is always best to backup your site before making any changes.  You can do this quickly by using a third-party plugin like this one.

As a next step, please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG and share any debug messages you see.

In the meantime, you can update Event Tickets Plus by manually updating.

Also, are you experiencing issues with creating regular pages and posts, or just events?

    Let me know!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

Ok, I figured out how to manually update Event Tickets Plus, but it didn’t help with the issues. Also I don’t know how to “enable WP_DEBUG” sorry! Can you give me instructions on this, or can I just give you the login to our website and you can figure out what’s going on? I really appreciate the help, because as I mentioned I am a librarian and have no idea what I’m doing.

You can enable the debug log by adding define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );  and define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true ); to your wp-config.php file.  Once these are enabled, you can see your debug log by going to http://westernalleghenylibrary.org/wp-content/debug.log

Let me know how it goes and if you have any other questions along the way!

    Thanks,

I’m sorry, I don’t know how to do what you are asking with the Debug log. But I figured out that it’s not actually a problem with Events Calendar at all – the issue is with Event Tickets. I figured this out by uninstalling all 4 plugins (Calendar, Calendar Pro, Tickets, and Tickets Plus) and adding in one by one. The issues only presented again when I installed Event Tickets, so that’s where the issue lies FYI.

For now, I have uploaded an older version of Event Tickets (which means I can’t use Event Tickets Plus right now either). At least it’s working, and the issues are gone with the Calendar for now. I may try to update the Event Tickets plugin at some later date, but for now I am done. Thank you for your help.

Glad we could help, you are welcome back in our support forums any time!

Since it sounds like your issue is resolved for now, I am going to close this thread.

Feel free to open up a new thread if the issue returns or if you have any further questions.

    Have a great week!
