Hi All. I just downloaded and installed the plugin. Great feature set and it looks good, but I think something is missing (or I’m missing how to do it).

Is there a way for the Mini Calendar widget or shortcode to show only the events scheduled for “Today” (the current date) when my homepage (where the mini calendar is displayed) loads?

It seems I can only set the number of events that show up. For example, if I have my “Number of events to list below the mini calendar” set 15 in the widget preferences, but I only have 5 events scheduled for today, then I will also see the next 10 events after today. This may “cut off” other events on future days and confuse people. Likewise, if I set a low number but have additional events for the day the page loads, not all events will display? This can also lead to confusion.

I’d like the mini calendar to display ONLY the current day’s events (all events for that day) when the page loads, regardless of how many there are.

EG: If there are 5 events set for today, only those five events show up, and not the next 10 as described in my example above. If there are 20 events for today, then all 20 of today’s events show up.

It seems to work similar to that after I click on a date in the mini calendar, where it only shows that days’ events. I want it to do exactly that on initial page load with the current day.

    Make sense? Thoughts?

In a case of “that’s really weird,” the issue I described above appears to only be a problem on one of the sites in my multisite network:
    https://ddhs.ddschools.org/

My desire to have only “that day’s events” show up on initial page load works with all my other school sites within the network. Examples:
    https://phoenix.ddschools.org/
    https://darien.ddschools.org/
    https://turtlecreek.ddschools.org/

It’s basically the same shortcode being used on the problem site (first link) as all the other sites. The only thing different is the category names specifying what calendars are displayed.

    Thoughts?

    Hi Michael,

Thanks so much for reaching out!

As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

In the meantime, let’s try to rule out if there is some type of conflict at play.
    This is usually because of:

    1.    A conflict with another plugin

    2.    A conflict with your WordPress theme

    3.    A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating

When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.

A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.

The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.

Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.

But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:

    1.    Make a backup of your database

    2.    Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)

Let me know how that goes!

    Thanks,

    Jaime
