    WordPress-Version: 4.8.2
    Theme: ColorMag Pro
affected Plugins: The Event Calendar (4.6.2), Event Calendar Pro (4.4.18), WP All import (4.5.0)

We are importing xml files (Events with 15 different fields) with the Plugin “WP ALL import” to “The Event Calendar” as events.
We have created 4 custom fields in The Event Calendar and for the rest we are using the standard fields like (_EventStartDate, _EventURL …and so on).

The event place is a custom field because there is no manual mapping possible between event place and event. During import the event place is matched with the event.

We have tried to import about 30.000 events at once. And realized that it takes very long (13 hours). During import the load of an event page was very slow (approx. 30 seconds).
After the import the loading of the pages (single event) of the website was still very slow (30 seconds).
During import the workload of the processor of the webserver was 15%. RAM was not oursourced.
Server RAM is 7GB and hard drive 20 GB (MySQL database).
Restart of database server was done but made no change.

Then we have reduced the number of events to 2.000 and it took 15 minutes. The load of an event page was much faster (2 seconds).

Do have the number of categories per event an impact on the performance?
How many events can be imported that we have no loading problems?

Thanks so much for reaching out again!

There are many factors that go in to the speed of your site and imports, so it is difficult to give an exact number of imports to you.

As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

In the meantime, please have a look at our Performance Considerations and see if there is anything you can adjust in order to help your site run better:

After that, you may be interested in caching, so take a look at this article:  https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/caching-basics/

Let me know how it goes and if you need any further assistance on this topic!

    Thanks,

    Thank you Jaime,

I’m trying to accelerate the import at various points. Here I also have contact to the manufacturer of the “WP All Import” plugin.

The biggest problem is the loading time of the individual events.
With 30,000 events, the page construction takes about 30 seconds.
We can not use the places that are integrated in the plugin. Therefore, the venue is represented by the “custom fields” of “The Event Calendar”.
Does the plugin make a big difference when looking for the venue?

How many events can the plugin show at most?
We are planning about 1,000,000 events.

    regards
    Mario

    Hi Mario,

Unfortunately, I cannot give too much input about your imports, as you are using a third-party plugin to import your events.  If you are interested, you can purchase a license for Event Aggregator, which is our import service, or reach out to WP All Import, which it sounds like you’ve already done.

It’s difficult to give an exact number for how many events your site can hold because there are so many factors that go into the way that the data on your site loads.  You are welcome to take a look at the articles that I linked to in my previous reply to see if there is anything that you can adjust on your end to assist in the speed of your site.

In addition, installing a plugin like Query Monitor might be able to point you in the direction of where your site may be slowing down.

I know these are very general suggestions, but it is difficult to give more precise advice without more information about your site.  If you’d like some more specific advice, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

Also, could you provide me with a link to your events page as well?

Let me know how all of this goes!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics.
