    Hey guys,
    I bought Event Aggregater, installed it, followed directions, but now my events calendar is half size (only displays on the right hand side of the page) and I am not sure why. If I go to the sub-domain /events/ its fullsize, but not on the main homepage. Any ideas? I also went into Settings, Reading, and made it static page.

    Hi Michael

    On http://kbhpunx.com/events/, it looks like the calendar spans the expected page content width.

    On http://www.kbhpunx.com, did you use a shortcode to add the calendar to the page content? Have you looked at what the page content area displays as with anything else, such as some dummy placeholder text?

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

    Hi Courtney,
    Thanks for the reply. Yes it is displaying correctly on the subdomain /events. However, I am trying to get it to display on my main page http://www.kbhpunx.com correctly. I want it exactly as it is on http://www.kbhpunx.com/events but displaying on http://www.kbhpunx.com instead. Its currently being displayed on kbhpunx.com by means of WP settings, reading, a static front page, “main events page”.

    I am not sure why its not displaying correctly there. No, I did not use a shortcode. I went to Events calendar, Events Settings, General, Events URL slug, and made it “/” to display on my main page. I then started getting some slug errors, so I experimented with changing events URL slug to /events. I then went to create a page called “events” and went into WP “settings, Reading, and changed to front page display and also experimented with changing “main events page”, to /events and /home with no luck. I had it working somehow, someway, at one point, but I am not sure how. Somewhere along the line I installed Events Aggregate and after this is when I noticed the problem. It may just be operator error on my behalf (most likely). Hope you can help. Thanks

    Hey Michael

    I walked through your steps and was able to see my calendar display in full width mode with Event Aggregator active.

    My first suggestion would be to check out how your /events page looks when you change these settings: Events » Settings » Display »

    Default stylesheet used for events templates

    & Events template.

    display templates

    If that doesn’t work:

    Can you start by going through our Testing for Conflicts Guide https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/?  I am wondering if you might have a plugin or theme conflict. That would also mean disabling any child theme you might have in place.

    We recommend conducting these tests on a staging server (https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/creating-using-wordpress-staging-site/). If you are unable to do so, please install <a href=”https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/“ title=“Health Check Plugin”>the Health Check plugin so that you can effectively disable all plugins without website visitors noticing any changes.

    Begin by deactivating all other plugins, using a theme such as Twenty Seventeen https://wordpress.org/themes/twentyseventeen/, and see if the issue still persists.

    Also, double check for any other updates available (Dashboard » Updates).

    Please let me know if the issue still persists after these tests.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

    Hi,
    Thanks again for the help. The calander is now displaying correctly! Events » Settings » Display »

    >events templates was changed from “Default Page Event” to “Default Events Template” and it now displays in the correct size!

    However, now a new bug has appeared!

    When I click on any event, the bottom is whited out and the map is not displaying.
    These are all events that Event Aggregator are pulling in.
    I am using the Twenty seventeen theme with no other plugins except a security plugin.

    Hey Michael

    The background in our single events is typically a very light shade of grey. However, your theme is dark with light text, so clearly, that doesn’t work.

    Can you add the following code to your child theme, or in Appearance » Customize » Additional CSS?

    .single-tribe_events .tribe-events-event-meta {
        background: #000;
    }

    You can change the #000 to the color of your theme background instead.

    Here are our usual CSS tips:

    1. Start by modifying what you can at Appearance » Customize » The Events Calendar.
    2. We generally don’t recommend that you change the theme or plugin’s CSS files directly, as they will be overwritten. To avoid this, follow the steps outlined in Themer’s Guide
    3. Use overriding CSS files, or add CSS to your site using Appearance » Customize » Additional CSS.
    4. Use !important before a semicolon to override every css rule. It’s a brute force method, but works for quick fixes.
    5. Please check out this Customizing WordPress #2 – Using Chrome Developers Tools YouTube video in addition to our Using Chrome Developer Tools tutorial on how to easily make changes using CSS.

    I believe Google Maps isn’t displaying because it looks like your Maps API key hasn’t been entered. Take a look at https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/setting-up-your-google-maps-api-key/.

    Let me know if that fixes things up.

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂

    Thanks again, I think you solved both problems!

    I am left with one more question for now. There was a bunch of security warnings when I setup the Google maps API (from Google during the API creation process). Are there any security steps I should take with this which will not mess with the Events Calendar Events Aggregator? I setup the API under my personal Google account, maybe not a good idea?

    Your personal account for a Maps API should be fine. Were the warnings in Google?

    Thanks
    Courtney 🙂
