ParticipantHello:
I need your help. I’m trying to export and import my Events Calendar data from our current website to a new one we are developing. We first tried exporting the data via a plugin called ALL EXPORT which gave us a CSV file. It told us we had 5,000+ records and only 400+ would import via the Events Calendar.
Next, we looked up your documentation and tried exporting through WordPress’ TOOLS > Importer functionality which generated an XML file, but once again it did not work. It failed to import everything.
We have many recurring events in our calendar, but I really only need to export/import Jan – June 2018. Is there any way to filter down so I’m not taking all the old records with me? We’re fine leaving them behind.
Is there anyone at Modern Tribe who can help me with this. I am new to web development.
Thank you very much!

MemberHi there,
Thank you for reaching out to us!
Did you check the following article? It explains how to migrate your events content using WordPress export tools:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/using-wordpress-export-tools-to-migrate-events-content/
If you are using The Events Calendar in your old/origin site as well, you may be able to achieve what you want with Events Aggregator: this addon has the “Other URL” option which allows you to import events that are published on another website using The Events Calendar.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions at all please feel free to let me know and I’d be happy to help as best I can!
Cheers,
Patricia

ParticipantHi Patricia:
Yes, we tried the steps in this article, but it did not help.
Maybe the problem is that we have more than 5,000 records, a lot of recurring events.
Would the Aggregator be a better option for us to try? Is it an Add-On that costs extra? Do I need to install it on both sites?
Sent from my iPhone. Please excuse typos.

ParticipantIs it possible for loyal customers like me to receive a one-time license of Events Aggregator to try it out? I don’t think we really have any use for it besides doing this one-time import to try and get our 2018 calendar events into our new site. Would you be willing to give me a license key so I can do this? Does Aggregator have to be licensed and activated on both sites that we’ll be doing the transferring from and to?

ParticipantOK. I couldn’t wait around for a response because I’m on a deadline. I renewed our subscription for the Event Aggregator, but when I go to try the Import > Other URL (beta) option, it’s grayed out – won’t allow me to even try it. In fact, everything except the CSV option is grayed out. What gives? Why did I just pay $89 to purchase an add-on that doesn’t even work?

ParticipantHi Patricia:
I purchased a valid license of Events Aggregator, but all my import options are grayed out. I’ve been combing through the Modern Tribe forums to try and find out why they’re grayed out and I’m unable to try the “Other URL” option that you suggested, but I can’t find an answer. I found this thread: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/import-options-greyed-out/ and tried what the Modern Tribe tech suggested in deleting the license key and then disconnecting our sites from my Modern Tribe dashboard and then reinstall the license key, but that didn’t work either.
I’m now gonna have to manually enter all my events for the next two months – what a drag!
I hope you’ll be able to refund me the $89 that I’ve now attempted to use twice without success. Seems I’m missing functionality – maybe there’s a conflict with some of my plugins? – or does it take some time for the add-on to take effect once you activate the license key?
I know your support policy is to give an answer in 24-48 hours, but I’m under a tight deadline – was hoping I might get lucky and get some support today, but looks like I’ve got to bite the bullet and stay up all night manually adding events to our monthly calendars – UGH!!!
Please let me know how I can go about getting a refund. Thank you!

MemberHi there,
I’d like to apologize for the delay in response and thank you for your patience! We’re doing our best to adhere to our Scope of Support / Terms for you and everyone else.
Regarding the issue with your Event Aggregator license key, sometimes new licenses or license renewals take longer than expected to register with our servers.
Therefore, my guess is that your license should work by now. Please give it another try now and let me know how it goes.
If the issues persists I’ll be glad to investigate your case or help you with the next steps to get a refund!
If you have any other questions at all please feel free to let me know and I’d be happy to help as best I can!
Kind regards,
Patricia

ParticipantIt’s still not working. Today, the only option I have under Events > Import is CSV. Yesterday at least I could see the other options (Facebook, Other URL) even though they were grayed out, but today they’re completely gone.
I manually entered all of our calendar entries, so, yes, I think at this time, I’d like to request a refund for the $89/year that we just laid out yesterday. I’ll wait until the add-on is a bit more stable.
Or maybe we’ll all be moving to Lumin by then! 🙂
Please let me know what you need from me to conduct the refund.
Thank you.

ParticipantThank you. I ended up entering in all the events manually, but we met our deadline and the new site is live – http://meditationonlongisland.org/
The calendar is our bread and butter, so thank you Modern Tribe for all your work on The Events Calendar! Looking forward to the new responsive calendars for mobile that I’m sure you’re all working on.
