When I export an event (or export the months events) from the calendar on my website using the “Export to iCal” button, the event imports into my calendar 4 hours ahead of the actual time. We are EST (NewYork). I have WordPress settings, Events Calendar Pro settings, the calendar I’m trying to export to all set to EST but the calendar is exporting as UTC.

    Any ideas?

    Howdy Leslie,

Welcome to our support forums and thanks for reaching out to us! I’ll help you figuring this issue out…

I’ve made a quick test and you seem to be right on this. The test consisted of importing events to a Google Calendar with New York timezone, and the events where not imported at the same time. How are you testing this on your end?

Please let me know about it,
    Best,
    Nico

Hi. Thank you for your help. We have tried exporting by clicking the “Export Months Event” button at the bottom of the calendar and by clicking the single event ical link. I have a Mac and I’ve tried importing the events into my Calendar program, which is set to EST. I’ve turned time zone support on and off and it imports wrong time both ways. We’ve also tried to import into the church’s app, which is set to EST also. If you load the .ics file into Google Calendar it also imports the wrong time. All this is happening with both recurring and single events.

I just noticed when I import into Mac Calendar the time that shows up on the calendar is the wrong time but the time in the details when you click on it show the correct time…

The ONLY time I get the correct time is if I click on the Google Calendar link on a single event and it opens it up directly in Google Calendar. The issue seems to lie with the .ics file.

I’ve also tried using the following urls to see if they could import the rss feed into the app (just trying anything at this point), but that didn’t work either.

    http://1stpres.com/calendar-events/feed/ and http://1stpres.com/calendar-events/rss/

We’ve contacted support at the app (thinking it had to do with them at first) and they said it looked like the wrong time is embedded in the URL.

I’m trying to find a solution where they only have ONE calendar they have to update that will feed their app, be on their website and also allow for links/embeds to personal calendars. I see that you have an iCal Export plugin but that it doesn’t work with recurring events (which the church as A LOT of) so I didn’t want to pay for that and it not work with recurring events.

Let me know if you need any other details. Thanks!

    Hey Leslie,

Thanks for following up on this!

Testing this by exporting events from my local site I do get a different result (just one hour offset that can be due to my global Google Calendar settings). Can you please follow the steps described in our Testing for conflicts guide? This way we can make sure this is not a problem a conflict with the theme or other installed plugins.

Please try to generate the .ics export file while under default conditions (no plugins + default theme) and let’s see if there’s anything different from the last time. If this doesn’t solve the issue will give us more information to do a detailed bug report.

Thanks for your patience while we solve this,
    Nico

Leslie I’m also having this issue. Did you resolve this without the ball breaking “switch off all plugins and test”?

I don’t think it’s the plugins at all. There must be a setting somewhere or work around.

    Care to share?
