GuestHi, I am testing the free plugin before I consider buying the Pro version. My site runs with WPML and I followed the instructions to make it work with WPML.
I find out that in the listing of the events, the venue choosen, standard has a hyperlink. I do not understand the rationale behind this, but I like to disable it, or to be able to work with it, but both options are not really working.
I searched the forum to disable this hyperlink, but the solutions provided (modification of specific files in the child theme) in the past do not work. The reason I would like to disable the hyperlink function is that the hyperlink results in a 404 page, as the page with information about the venue is not found. Another option is to get this hyperlink to /location/venue-name active. I have no idea on how to do that.Any advice on how to handle this?
Thanks! JP

MemberHi, JP.
You posted in our Pre-Sales forum from a user account that doesn’t have any purchases associated with it.
We don’t answer support questions for The Events Calendar core/free or Event Tickets core/free or their paid add-ons in the Pre-Sales forum.
I can tell you that single Venue pages (like http://wpshindig.com/venue/integrity-corporation/ from our demo site) are only active if you have our PRO add-on. If you do purchase PRO and need support with this issue, feel free to then post in the paid forums.
Last but not least, we have a pretty great Refund Policy so you can buy one or many of our add-ons and thoroughly test them.
Let me know if you have any follow-up questions.

GuestDear Cliff,
Thank you for your quick reply!
I am testing the free version in order to understand the options and limitations.
Just for my understanding:
I understand from your reply that you put code stuff, like a non working venue hyperlink, in the free version that actually has no function and results in 404 pages when this hyperlink is visible in the events list?
This would suggest that the free version is not meant to be actually used by someone? Thanks, JP

MemberDefinitely not.
The core/free plugin’s single events view should display the Venue information but the Venue Name shouldn’t be a hyperlink.
If it is, please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide (basically switch to Twenty Sixteen theme and deactivate all plugins and custom code other than Modern Tribe plugins) and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.
For example, maybe the theme you’re using has integration for PRO without accommodating for people only running the free version (although I’d be surprised if this was the case).
Please let me know what you find out.

GuestDear Cliff
I removed the css in my current theme, I deactivated all plugins and switched to standard theme WP 2012. I still have the hyperlink.
I flushed my WPML cache and re-saved the permalinks. Nothing changed.
I should not see the hyperlink as you wrote, but I still do.
I am testing the plugin now for 4 weeks. The first install did not have the hyperlink, but the latest 2 updates have this non active hyperlink.
Any other advice to get rid of a hyperlink I should not have, so I can finish my evaluation?
Thank you! JP

MemberThanks for testing, Jan.
I just tried it on my local testing site — disabling PRO — and the Venue name is no longer a link: https://cl.ly/0j3A2E3c2S3B
I tested with Twenty Sixteen theme.
If it doesn’t work for you, please disable all non-Modern Tribe plugins and test again.

GuestDear Cliff,
Thank you for sending the picture. This is a single event page, and this works indeed for me too.
However, I am talking about the event list, where all the different events are listed in a row, and where you can scroll through all the events, listed in time order. The events are shown by title, venue, date, and an excerpt of the text. In this overview I see a hyperlink at venue which is a dead end.
I installed the plugin on my public site to show you: https://cloudup.com/cUsmyHOsXDyThanks, JP

MemberThanks for clarifying. I was able to confirm this. Thanks for the bug report.
I’ll mark this ticket as Pending Fix, which means this thread should receive a reply once the applicable fix has been released. I cannot guarantee when it will be fixed as it’s in the development team’s hands now. They need to assign it, code it, test it, and schedule it for release.
I apologize for this issue and appreciate your understanding and patience.
