ParticipantHello,
We have the same question as the one asked here about creating a series of events at different locations:
The links provided as solutions to this question would allow us to copy events but this doesn’t keep all of the events grouped an event series. We want to keep the events grouped as a series so that when you’re viewing one of the events, you can also see events at the other locations.
Is there a way to do this?
This feature request post from May said that you were working on the ability to link arbitrary events together as one event series. Has this been implemented?
Alternatively, is there a way to create a custom event type so that we can create a series of events that are all the same except for the date and location?
Thanks!

ParticipantI’d like to add, at a minimum is there a way to group events with different locations so that they appear in a popup like the Recurring Event (See All) text (shown in the screenshot)?

KeymasterHi Mark,
Thanks for reaching out!
Unfortunately the new features you referenced have not been released yet (and I don’t have a timeline as to when they will be released at the moment), but we are working on them! I would recommend casting your vote for that feature, which will help you stay up to date on progress. Using recurring events, every event in the series will have the same information, including the venue – I’m sorry for the bad news here!
There isn’t currently a way to create a custom event type, but you can group events by assigning a category to individual events. I think this would be the best way to go for your particular use case. They won’t appear in a popup (although you could create one with a customization – please see our themer’s guide for more info on customizing our plugins). However, you can then display events of a certain category around your site using the shortcodes that come with Pro or by using category (archive) pages.
I’m sorry I don’t have a more straightforward solution for you here, but I hope this helps – and please stay tuned for updates on the new features! Of course, if you have any questions in the meantime, please let me know!
Thanks,
Jennifer

ParticipantHi Jennifer,
Thanks for the quick reply and the confirmation that we’ll need to use categories. I read through the Themer’s Guide but I could still use some help.
I’m wondering if you can provide any suggestions for how to create a pop up that shows all events in a specific category?
Also, is there a way to just include that pop up for certain categories (ie, not have it show up for all events that have a category)?
Thanks again

KeymasterHi Mark,
To create a pop-up, you’ll need to add some JavaScript that will display these events or a link to a page that displays the events…to pull in a custom list of events, I would recommend taking a look at the tribe_get_events function. This list of functions should also be helpful.
We are a bit limited in the amount of support that we can provide for customizations, but if you get stuck along the way, we’ll be happy to point you in the right direction! If you’d like to have someone do the code for you, we do have a list of recommended developers that you could contact.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Jennifer

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
