GuestHello,
I’m looking for a solution to implement events calendar and it seems that I’ll stick with Events Calendar. However, I have some questions regarding the plugin flexibility in order to accomplish required tasks:a) I’m interested in creating something like in Christ Church showcase (first slide – https://theeventscalendar.com/showcase/christ-church/) with clear view of days arranged horizontally. Does it require any special implementation (ie. custom coding or themeing) or does it come with the plugin by default? Client’s request is to display whole month in this view but I personally think it would be more useful if the view was shortened to just a week with carousel functionality (like in Christ Church showcase). In this configuration – is it possible to have items arranged in columns (“photo view”) or they must be arranged in list view from top to bottom?
b) What about submission process? Is it possible to limit submission process only to certain user accounts that don’t have full administrator privilages? Also, I don’t want anonymous submissions.
c) How does single event page customization work? Can I write my own templates to be used with your plugin? If so, what about plugin updates? Can I make it without modifying plugin files?

MemberHey Lukasz,
Thanks for getting in touch with us and for your interest in our products 🙂
a) I’m interested in creating something like in Christ Church showcase (first slide – https://theeventscalendar.com/showcase/christ-church/) with clear view of days arranged horizontally. Does it require any special implementation (ie. custom coding or themeing) or does it come with the plugin by default? The site you mention is using the Forgive theme which integrates with our plugins smoothly and that module seems to be a part of the theme. It’s surely not something included in our product out of the box. To see the different views included in The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO (week, photo and map views), take a look at our demo site.
b) What about submission process? Is it possible to limit submission process only to certain user accounts that don’t have full administrator privilages? Also, I don’t want anonymous submissions.
Event submissions are possible with Community Events add-on. You can disable anonymous submissions, and you can also block admin access to certain roles. If you want to limit access to certain user accounts that’s possible with a bit of code but not something you can do via the plugin options.
c) How does single event page customization work? Can I write my own templates to be used with your plugin? If so, what about plugin updates? Can I make it without modifying plugin files?
Sure, you can create your own version of the different front-end templates. We call these custom versions template overrides, and they are stored in your theme (or child theme) so they are safe from updates. Find more about this and other customizations in our themer’s guide.
Finally, while we don’t have a trial period you can go ahead and purchase the products for testing. If you decide they are not what you are looking for, you can ask for a full refund within 30 days of purchase. For more information take a look at our refund policy.
Please let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with,
Best,

GuestHello Nico,
thank you for super-fast response. I really appreciate it.If authors of the theme you mentioned developed such module, I assume it is possible to create something similar by using Events Calendar’s API, am I right?
I would like to also clarify the event submission process. What my client requested is being able to maintain a group of user accounts with permissions to add events. However, due to the fact that those accounts will represent people from different organizations, events created by one party shouldn’t be accessible and editable by other party (with exception of higher privileged users like admins). Is it possible or would it be possible with custom extension to Events Calendar? There is no need for front-end or anonymous submission. It’s just the question of being unable to cross-edit events added by other members.

Correct! Take a look at the tribe_get_events function docs, probably that’s all you need.
Regarding your comments on submitting events. If you don’t need front-end submitting then it makes no sense to use Community Events. What your client is looking to achieve seems to be possible by creating the appropriate user accounts in the back-end. I think that default WordPress roles should be able to manage this correctly but in any case check out this knowledgebase article about Admin roles & permissions for The Events Calendar.
Please let me know if this helps,
Best,

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
