Hi there! I’m having the most bizarre problem. Whenever we go to add a new event and click “Publish”, the page refreshes and says the event has been created and even provides a link to view the event. However, it doesn’t show up on the calendar and it doesn’t show up in our admin under the list of events. Instead we have to click “update” repeatedly (12-15x) as soon as we publish a new event before it actually shows up. When you’re adding dozens of events at a time, this obviously becomes time consuming. Why isn’t it working the first time we click “Publish”?

I’ve switched to a new theme and that didn’t fix it. We tried adding new events from different computers and different web browsers, that doesn’t make a difference. I also deactivated all of my plug-ins and that also didn’t fix it.

    Any other suggestions?

Correction! I just tried a 4th random theme and it seems to fix the problem. My questions is, how do I go about figuring out what it is in the other themes that’s causing the issue?

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

First of all, I’m glad you managed to solve your issue 🙂

Well, the problem you encountered could have been a server issue, but since you fixed it by changing your theme, my guess is that there was a conflict between the theme and a plugin (for example, it happens regularly that a theme uses a version of jQuery different to the one used by WordPress, which might causes some problems).

Next time a similar problem arises, I would recommand you to follow those instructions about testing for conflicts. Do you have a staging website? That would be ideal to test things out without without disturbing your users.

Please do let me know if you come across the same issue with that new theme.

    Cheers,
    Jeremy

Well, I actually didn’t solve my problem. I just figured out it’s a theme conflict. We can’t change themes so now I’m stuck with not being able to use this plug-in because our current theme is custom and out first priority. So my question is: how do I determine WHAT that conflict is so that it can be resolved? We’re already paying for Events Pro and Community and would rather not switch to a different plug-in at this point unless we’re forced to. So do you have any suggestions on what I could use to run a diagnostics to figure this out?

Oh! And just so you know where I am with trouble shooting: It’s not any other plug-ins, only Events. So the problem is specifically something within our theme in combination with the Events plug-in – exclusively. I’ve tried using my console in my browser to look for any issues or javascript problems, there are none (at least nothing that’s showing an alert.)

All of my Event plug-ins are up-to-date and so is my WordPress. I can’t update my theme because it was custom coded and I don’t know code well enough to understand what’s outdated. Should I be looking into rolling back WordPress version as an option?

    Hi,

I’m sorry I misunderstood your message from May 7th. Obviously it’s not an option to opt for a random theme…

Your custom coded theme, was it made from a starter theme? A WordPress framework such as Genesis? Is it a modified Premium theme? Or a child theme from another theme?

In order to help you further, I would need some extra information. Could you please share your system information with me? (you can paste it below and set your reply as “Private”).

    Cheers,
    Jeremy
