ParticipantHello,
I’m looking for clarification as I see different responses from the Support Team on whether Events Tickets Plus allows free tickets without installing a new payment gateway.
We’ve just setup ETP (no WooCommerce) after this response to our question about allowing Free tickets that appear with, and share stock with other tickets:
However, it will not allow this, leaving the price box blank or putting $0 both give an error “Ticket Price must be greater than zero.” RSVP will not work for our application.
From other posts (like this one: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/cant-chooice-pay-tickets-000-euro/) it seems that this is a known issue with Paypal, that free tickets is not possible with Tribe Commerce.
Please let me know if there is a way to allow for free tickets without a new payment gateway.

MemberHi. Sorry for the confusion this has caused you.
RSVP is for free tickets (can’t have paid). Tribe Commerce PayPal is for paid tickets (can’t have free). Both are available via Event Tickets (ET) free/core plugin.
Event Tickets Plus (ET+) adds support for things like collecting additional attendee information per ticket (any ticket type, including RSVP) and support for WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads. Woo or EDD tickets can have free or paid tickets.
Can I ask why you think RSVP won’t meet your needs if you’ll only have free tickets on your site?

ParticipantWe need free tickets and paid tickets that share stock. We’re trying to introduce online registration but our attendees are more cash-oriented than the average population; ~20% choose to pay in cash at our store. We want to have online registration to make it easier for younger audiences, but don’t want to exclude these cash payers. We’ve considered setting our online capacity at 80% of what the room can hold to allow for some cash spots, but it seems like too much administration to maintain, we have lots of events where this is the case. We’ve also considered setting the RSVP at this 20% mark with a ‘for staff use only’ that we could click once they’ve paid in cash, but are sure that people will click on the big “Confirm RSVP” button thinking that’s the way to sign up for the class.

MemberThanks for sharing.
When using WooCommerce, for example, you can offer check or cash payments: https://docs.woocommerce.com/documentation/plugins/woocommerce/getting-started/sell-products/core-payment-options/
Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions on this topic.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
