Mat
GuestHi,
I would like to aggregate worldwide Parties and Festivals. In the description of Event Aggregator I see that I can run 100 imports per day.
Lets say I have a list with 500 party organisations and every org has 3 events in the future…
Can I run the import for 500 organisations 100 times a day or am I restricted to 100 events a day?Are there problems with big amounts of organisations where I would like to import events?
I would like to use Facebook Pages mostly for the event sync.
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Mat

ParticipantHey Mat!
Can I run the import for 500 organisations 100 times a day or am I restricted to 100 events a day?
The former; you can run 100 imports per day, and are not limited to 100 events per day. So, yes, if you have a batch of 500 pages, then technically you can import from this body of 500 pages 100 times a day.
However, this has some problems:
Are there problems with big amounts of organisations where I would like to import events?
YES, there are performance issues with importing from lots and lots of Facebook pages. This has basically nothing to do with our plugins themselves, but mainly with your site’s server and other web infrastructure, and the size of the HTTP request needed to import from hundreds of pages at once.
Once you start importing from more than a few dozen sources at a time, you will start to see your site’s performance severely negatively impacted by the sheer volume of data trying to be crunched. There is no way around these problems other than to soup up your website’s hosting infrastructure and/or break the massive imports up into smaller batches.
I hope this information helps! Please let me know if there are any other issues or questions I can try to help with.

GuestThanks for your answer George.
is there any way to break the massive imports up into smaller batches e.g. by defining seperate times for the daily import of each facebook page?
But when I set up a different time for each import I need to import more than 100 different imports a day and break the import limit.
Any work-around?
Any idea when this problem is solved?
I am planning to switch over to Events Calendar with Event Aggregator when I am able to import big amounts of Facebook events.Best regards,
Mat

ParticipantHi Mat,
You can indeed make different “batches” of imports within Event Aggregator, to break up the massive number of imports.
As for your question about the problem being solved, I’m not quite sure what “problem” you are referring to?
• If you are asking if there’s some way that more than 100 imports will be allowed for the 100-import license, this will not happen; the 100 import license will only ever allow 100 daily imports.
• If you are asking if there’s a way to let Event Aggregator allow for more events to be imported per event, then this too is not a problem nor is it something we can fix: as noted in my replies above, there are no “hard” limits in our plugins, only limits that arise from the circumstances of your site’s specific infrastructure and server capabilities.
I hope this information all helps!

GuestYou say that there are no “hard” limits in the plugin, only limits that arise from the circumstances of your site’s specific infrastructure and server capabilities. But why you commented that the 100 import license will only ever allow 100 daily imports? This is a hard limit.
I want to aggregate international parties from all over the world by giving the plugin the organizer pages. Is it possible to have lets say 700 slots (100 per day) – in every slot I have up to 10 or 20 organizer page Ids and the cronjob will be fired every week?
More exact question. Am I able to manually configure the cronjobs in a way that they are fired to specific times, lets say every Monday 11:00 am – so I am able to configure up to 700 cronjobs a week?Best regards,
Mat

ParticipantSorry Mat, to clarify what I mean is that there are not hard limits on the number of events each individual import allows for.
Do you know what I mean here?
So, yes, you only get 100 imports per with the 100-imports-per-day license.
But there are no limits like, “20 events per import.” Or “only 50 Facebook.com pages can be used for each import”. These per-import limits do not exist and your only constraints are those of your site infrastructure.

ParticipantAs for your specific questions about the cron jobs, no, you can’t manually set up cron jobs with Event Aggregator on your own schedule unless you manually do some extensive custom coding to hook that up. There is no out-of-the-box way to make custom cron jobs and we would not be able to help with any custom coding necessary for that to exist.
I hope the information I’ve provided here helps!
Please do keep in mind that we have 30-day, no-questions-asked refund policy. The best solution here may be to simply install The Events Calendar for free; buy an Event Aggregator license; and try it all out firsthand to see how it works. If it’s not working well for your needs, just request a refund any time within that 30 days of purchase here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/refund-policy/

GuestHow often one import slot fire an import cronjob? daily?
December 1, 2016 at 8:54 am #1200381George
ParticipantHi Mat,
If you specify the schedule to run an import every half hour, then the cron job will run every half hour if there are events and if the WP_Cron job can run. If you specify it to be hourly, then it’ll be hourly. Likewise with “once daily”, and so on.
WP_Cron is not TRUE server-side cron, so the actual running schedule may be different than every half hour. If this sounds a little weird, check out the following resources:
• First, check out my responses to Chris in this other forum thread; I go into some more detail about the expectations of importing and the WP Cron jobs → https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/importing-edited-event-creates-new-event-end-date-time-not-being-imported/#post-1194009
• Next, read this page to learn more about WP Cron yourself if you are interested, and want verify the claims I am making → https://developer.wordpress.org/plugins/cron/
I hope this info helps!
