Hi there,
In our filter bar country drop down we’re not seeing countries that should be showing up. Countries is populated by Venue location correct? Here is an event with a venue in the US: http://unifiedthomas.wpengine.com/de/event/celebrate-life-festival-2018/ – and if you go to http://unifiedthomas.wpengine.com/de/calendar/ – US is not an option in the filter bar country drop down.
Please help.
Thanks!

Thanks so much for reaching out!
It looks like you have no Google Maps API Key included on your site. As a first step, can you add in a Google Maps API Key and see if that helps to resolve your issue?

Let me know if that helps!
Thanks,
Jaime

I added an API key and tested again and it still does not work. Let me know what else we can try.
Thanks,

As a next step, let’s try to rule out if there is some type of conflict at play.
This is usually because of:- A conflict with another plugin
- A conflict with your WordPress theme
- A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating
When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.
A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.
The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.
Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:
- Make a backup of your database
- Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)
Let me know how that goes!
Thanks,
Jaime

Thanks for the reply. I’ve created a staging environment, deactivated all unrelated plugins, and reverted to Twenty Seventeen and the issue still persists. Please let me know what else we can try.
Thanks,

Can you take a screenshot of what the venue looks like from the backend, so that I can try to replicate the scenario that you are describing on my end?
Let me know if you have any other questions in the meantime!
Thanks,
Jaime

Sure thing, here is one: https://cl.ly/rayr – and again for reference here’s the German events page: https://thomashuebl.com/de/calendar/
Shouldn’t Germany show in the Country options drop down for filters?
Thanks,
JonahMay 16, 2018 at 4:53 am #1531516Jaime MarchwinskiKeymasterHi Jonah,
It looks like all of your filters display properly if you are viewing the site in English. With the other two languages, the Germany and USA country filters are missing.
With that in mind, can you take a look at the following article on setting up Filter Bar with WPML and make sure that everything is configured properly there?

Let me know if that helps!
Thanks,

Yep, I looked over that article before to double check I wasn’t missing anything. That article mainly covers just editing titles correct? At any rate, it does not help with this issue. Please let me know what else we can try.
Thanks,
JonahMay 24, 2018 at 5:12 am #1537832Jaime MarchwinskiKeymasterHi Jonah,
I’m sorry to hear that things still aren’t working for you.
Unfortunately, Filter Bar is not completely compatible with WPML, which may be why you are seeing this issue.
You can read more about the integration of our plugins with WPML here:
http://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/wpml-support
Behind the scenes, WPML creates different posts for different languages and in a scenario like this where posts of one type (such as events) are linked to posts of various other types (such as venues and organizers) there’s a chance that those relationships may have broken down.
You may want to try reaching out to their support to see if they have any suggestions for you here:
https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
Let me know how that goes and if you have any other questions for us!
Thanks,
Jaime

Thanks for the reply. Bummer, but I understand. I’ll reach out to WPML to see what they say. If you guys could please flag this internally as well as an incompatibility to take a look at in the future, that would be great. I would imagine you guys have more than a few WPML users out there 😉
Best,
