ParticipantI get an error while trying to renew the Facebook Token. I also checked my FB Apps, cleaned cache, tried different browser, checked the forum etc. The authorisation request still fails. The facebook popup says there is an error with the app.

KeymasterHi Richard,
Thanks so much for reaching out!
I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue with your Facebook Token. Are you experiencing any other issues related to Event Aggregator? In other words, are you able to import through other sources without issue?
Would you be able to translate the error that you are seeing into English for me?
Also, I would recommend trying to authorize your Facebook token using a bare site, with a WordPress default theme and other plugins deactivated, if possible.
Let me know how it goes and if you have any other questions along the way!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantHi Jamie,
thanks for your answer.
The error just says there is an error with the app. “Login error: There is an error when trying to log in to your app. Try again later.” (several times / days). I can see what your app connector is trying to do. It tries to pass the app secret with my page URL (which has a .wien domain), the admin URL (which is standard wp-admin), and also the language (de-DE). The whole process finishes with an error, and your event calender connector website (ea.theeventscalendar.com) returns says “there was a problem connecting to Facebook”.
So this has nothing to do with the theme or plugins I used (I deactivated everything).
Why does the events calender facebook app connector fail?
Please help.

KeymasterHi Richard,
I’m sorry to hear that you are still experiencing this issue!
You may want to review the settings you have in Facebook. Here are a few articles to look over and see if your conflict exists here:

ParticipantHi Jamie.
Ok, I read those articles.
But those issues involve using the old Facebook Events plugin, where one had to set up their own facebook app (which I was using back then, and it was working..). And what is it that is going on with the current Event Aggregator connector issue?

KeymasterHi Richard,
Okay, so it seems that it is something particular about your Facebook account. You may want to investigate your Facebook settings, including your security and privacy settings.
Let’s also do one more check and try to:
– disconnect from Facebook
– in Facebook remove the app access
– reauthenticate from the beginningIn the meantime, I have also reached out to my colleagues to see if there is anything else we can test.
Let me know how this goes!
Thanks,
Jaime

ParticipantThanks, Jamie, for reaching out. I also tried to connect a friend, disconnect him, connect again with mine, but it still fails. Also checked my FB app lists etc. Right now, I connected with the FB account of a friend. The fail will continue when his token expires – what will happen in 2 month. Only 2 month (!), that’s also quite…

KeymasterHi Richard,
I’m sorry to hear that you are still dealing with this issue. I’m glad you have a friend’s account to use for now!
In any case, I just wanted to let you know that I am still exploring the issue to see if there is anything else that we can do.
Thank you for your patience.
Thanks,
Jaime

KeymasterHi again Richard,
I got some further clarity on the issue that I wanted to share with you. It seems that since your friend’s token works on your site, though yours does not, indicates that this may be an issue through Facebook. As a next step, I’d recommend reaching out to Facebook for support, and link them to our Support Forum thread here.
Also, you can see here that others have had this issue with Facebook, without the use of our plugin:
Please let me know how it goes and if you have any other questions along the way!
Thanks,
Jaime
