Hello,
I am having an issue where my exclusions are not saving when I update the page. I can see the exclusion option, and set exclusions and all the options seem to work fine. However, once I click ‘Update’ on the page and I scroll back down to the exclusions area, everything is back to default. These exclusions are new, not previously setup, and I do not have any other exclusions setup yet on my website.
There are no errors in the console. I am a developer and this is my client’s site so if there are any ‘advanced’ things I can do to try and track whats happening please let me know.
This website is hosted on WPEngine and I tried to do testing in staging but the plugin tells me that I have run out of installs, so I can’t do the normal testing for conflicts and I can’t test on live.
Any suggestions on ways to test would be very much appreciated.

My first thought is trying a different date format in the wp-admin General Settings and/or the Event Display settings and see if exclusions then work.
I’d also recommend disconnecting your main site, example.com, and then connect staging.example.com, assuming that’s where you’ll always be performing the updates. You would remove the key from both sites’ wp-admin settings, then remove example.com from https://theeventscalendar.com/license-keys/, then re-enter your license key at your staging site’s wp-admin settings. You could then perform automatic updates in staging.
Could you please make sure all your Modern Tribe plugins (and WordPress core) are at their latest versions?
- Downloads / Version Numbers
- License Keys
- TEC Automatic Updates
- or TEC Manual Updates
- WordPress core updates
Once you verify you’re on the latest versions, please test to see if the issue is still happening for you.
If it is, please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide (basically switch to Twenty Seventeen theme and deactivate all plugins and custom code other than Modern Tribe plugins) and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.
Of course, we always recommend restorable database and file backups before modifying anything on your site.
If it doesn’t, please enable WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG (which will create a file on your server at /wp-content/debug.log if there are any WP_DEBUG messages) and share any debug messages you see while trying to replicate this issue and doing other things on your site relevant to this ticket (such as visiting your site’s home page, events page, single-event pages, and anything else you can think to do).
Then, please share your System Information (while in Testing for Conflicts Mode) in a Private Reply. That will give me a lot of extra information to help troubleshoot this.
Let us know what you find out.
Thanks.
