ParticipantWhen I add a recurring event, ALL of the events in my calendar seem to be linking to the new URL of the recurring event, and not the URL’s that were added originally. When I check the individual details of previous event listings, the URLs are the right ones. But the calendar itself isn’t following the links.

KeymasterHi,
Thanks for reaching out to us! I’d be happy to help you 🙂
When you say that all of the events in your calendar seem to be linking to the new URL of the recurring event, do you mean ALL the events on your website, or only the events associated with that specific recurring events? Could you provide me an URL where the problem happens?
Also, could you share your System Information? That would help me understand the situation better.
Cheers,
JeremyAugust 21, 2018 at 8:47 am #1602154calendar12345
ParticipantHi Jeremy,
Here is a link to our calendar of events.
https://meditateintoronto.com/calendar/ (https://meditateintoronto.com/calendar/)As you will notice, all the events for August are now linking to a single event, the lunchtime meditation series. Even though some of the events are evening classes, morning classes, etc. If I go into the events app the link there is clearly the right one… the correct URL, but as you can see, the program is bypassing those correct URLs for some reason. This only seemed to happen after I entered some recurring events. If I delete ALL the lunchtime meditations, the calendar will now link ALL the events in August to the previous entered recurring event. Does my explanation make sense?
I am not a computer geek by any means… so am not familiar with lingo, etc. I am somewhat competent, but have only recently started to update our website. We have a fairly basic website, I think… we offer meditation classes, as you can see. So it doesn’t have any interaction with clients, i.e. no feedback, etc. I am the only one who has been updating the events calendar.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

KeymasterHi Sandra,
Thank you for that clarification! It helps a lot. It’s the first time I come across that problem though. But be assured we’ll find the solution 🙂
First of all, could you share your System Information? (you may paste it in a “Private reply”). Also, did you (or someone else) modify some Events Calendar template files?
It would be important to go through the process of testing for conflicts. In case you haven’t done it yet, could you deactivate all your other plugins to see if that makes a difference? And then, could you switch to the default theme (Twenty Seventeen) and check again your calendar?
Thanks in advance,
JeremyAugust 22, 2018 at 8:24 am #1603040calendar12345
ParticipantHi Jeremy,
I activated the share system info option so you can take a look.
When I deactivated all the plug-ins, all the formatting of the entire website was screwed up. How do I fix that?

In answer to your question, the event was not a recurring event. However it doesn’t seem to matter… I have tried several times with different events, both recurring and one-time…
Thanks

KeymasterHi Sandra,
Thanks for sharing your System Information 🙂
However I can’t see any obvious cause to your problem. So we need to keep investigating. You said your calendar seemed to work when you deactivated all the plugins and reverted to Twenty Seventeen: does it work with all other plugins deactivated and your normal theme? Does it work with all plugins activated and Twenty Seventeen?
Once you know for sure the problem comes from a plugin and not your theme, you might deactivate all your plugins and activate them one by one until you find out which one is in conflict with our plugin.
Ideally, you would do those tests on a staging environment. If you can’t use a staging site, then you may consider using a plugin like Plugin Detective and/or Health Check, each of which provide a troubleshooting mode that aims to ensure your site will continue to operate as normal for regular visitors.
Please let me know how it goes.
Cheers,
JeremyAugust 24, 2018 at 4:59 am #1604841calendar12345
ParticipantThe thing is, Jeremy, this problem didn’t start until I downloaded the Pro Calendar. So it must have something to do with that. When I deactivated the plug ins before, I did as you suggested, and added them one at a time… each time, the calendar continued to work perfectly. When I changed back to our regular theme, that’s when the problem reoccurred. But it makes no sense for our theme to be the problem, does it?
Thanks,
SandraAugust 24, 2018 at 9:14 am #1605024calendar12345
ParticipantNow for some reason the events calendar is defaulting to a calendar page for each event, which shows a link to the actual booking form.
Check it out…
https://meditateintoronto.com/calendar/half-day-course-meditating-in-daily-life/ (https://meditateintoronto.com/calendar/half-day-course-meditating-in-daily-life/)August 24, 2018 at 10:50 am #1605267calendar12345
ParticipantHi again,
Can you explain why all the links in the calendar are now linking to the calendar itself and not to the page on the website?August 27, 2018 at 5:21 am #1606438Jeremy
KeymasterHi Sandra,
Thanks for the clarification. So it seems like there’s a conflict between our plugin and your theme.
Did it work normally before you contacted us? Could you make sure your theme is up-to-date?
If your website was working properly before the latest update of our plugin, you may downgrade our plugin to a previous version:Â https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/downgrading-plugin-past-version/ (until we figure out where the problem comes from exactly and how to fix it).
Also, I don’t understand why you have 2 calendar pages, which behave in 2 different ways:
- https://meditateintoronto.com/calendars/ (links are correct)
- https://meditateintoronto.com/calendar/ (links point to the latest event)
What do you mean by “all the links in the calendar are now linking to the calendar itself and not to the page on the website”? Could you send me a screenshot or give me more details?
Cheers,
JeremyAugust 31, 2018 at 7:08 am #1610599calendar12345
ParticipantHi there,
It has been over a week and I have not received a reply to my latest query regarding this problem. Now all the events are just going to a calendar page and not to the link actually saved in each posting. Can you please help with this????August 31, 2018 at 7:16 am #1610614calendar12345
ParticipantHi Jeremy,
Sorry I DIDN’T see your latest reply. I don’t know why there are two calendars showing. When I go to pages in WP, it only shows one calendar page. So perhaps this is the problem? If so, how do I find and delete the extra calendar?
Regarding everything linking to a calendar page, here is an example:https://meditateintoronto.com/calendar/melodious-drum-prayers/ -
