I am running current paid versions of both Events Calendar Pro and Filter Bar on a site. The following issue applies to that site:

The Events List widget works properly for desktop users, display to them only the events that meet the criteria as configured in the widget customizer (Appearance>Widgets and setting the various options for the Events List itself). However, for mobile users (whether the mobile functionality is driven by either WPtouch [free version] or Jetpack’s Mobile Theme, the Events List widget displays to users a weird subset of events — it randomly grabs a category of events (doesn’t seem to matter what; I deleted the one it was grabbing, and it grabbed another one.)

Test it for yourself by visiting the site in your desktop browser and then hitting it on your tablet or phone: ageekmom.com

    Any ideas what’s up?

    Thanks!

Good evening Shannon and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the different behaviour of the list widget on mobile.
I would love to help you with this topic.

As a first troubleshooting step, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/sharing-sys-info/

Also, could you share the website’s URL so that I can run some tests.

    Finally,

Could you also please go through our testing for conflicts procedure (preferably in a staging/dev environment or local install of your WordPress website) and let us know what you find out.

Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

Private reply with my system information forthcoming next.

Provided my website’s URL & went through the testing for conflicts procedure prior to posting my thread, as per requirements of posting a thread (novel concept, I know! *grin*)

With all plugins except The Events Calendar (and Pro) + Filter Bar disabled and the Twenty Fourteen theme applied, the site displays no blog posts and instead displays the same events as the mobile version of my site’s Events List is displaying [screenshot of site as it appears in test configuration]. That is Greek to me but perhaps sheds light to someone well-versed in themes.

    Hello Shannon,

Thank you for your answer and kudos on reading the support requirements 🙂

I did a bit more research based on your findings and it turns out that there are indeed some known incompatibilities between our plugins and WP Touch at least.
I am less familiar with JetPack’s mobile theme, but it is possible that there is a conflict there too.

Full disclosure, as much as we try to make our plugins play well with most plugins and themes out there, sometimes that is simply not possible.

Unfortunately since more and more people tend to prefer fully responsive theme rather than a plugin such as WP touch these days, it is highly unlikely that there will be a fix for it.
But, as you will find out, the plugins work great with the vast majority of WordPress themes out there, including the most popular ones

I wish I had a better answer for you, but for now it’s the best one I have.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

No worries. I suspected that might be the case (WP Touch & JetPack’s mobile theme not playing well with The Events Calendar’s plugins). You’re correct about the migration to fully responsive themes.

Thanks for looking into it for me! I’m glad it’s not something simple I was overlooking.
