KeymasterHi there,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with the widget title displaying correctly. I’ll try to help you get this sorted.
I tried adding a list widget on my local test site, and it is respecting the widget title that I enter when I view it on the front end.
Are you making sure to save the widget after changing the title? If you go back to the widgets page afterwards, do you still see the new title saved in the widget, or did it revert to “widget area?”
Do you have any type of caching set up on your site? If so, does clearing the cache make any difference?
If none of the above helps, can you please share your system information with me?
Thanks,

ParticipantHello Sky,
Thanks for the information. I have double checked and it appears everything is saved correctly. I just enabled the ‘share my system info’ link with you.
Please let me know what other suggestions you have.
thank you,

KeymasterHi again,
Thank you for providing your system information.
I’m wondering if this could be related to your theme? Our plugins don’t use the term “Widget Area” as a default for the Widget Title, so I’m not sure how that could be showing like that.
Can you try temporarily switching to the Twenty Seventeen theme and disabling all other plugins and see if this changes anything?
If you would like to read more about this troubleshooting process, check out our Testing for Conflicts Guide.
Let me know how that goes!
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Sky,
I did switch the theme to the 2017 theme in temporary mode and it did solve the problem.
Any idea how to trouble shoot the problem from here? We are using Mesmerize Pro by Extend Themes.
thank you,

KeymasterHi Rich,
I’m not sure how or why the theme would override a plugin widget’s title. I would doublecheck to see if there is a way to change this in the theme settings somewhere. Hardcoding something like that into a theme seems like a bad practice.
You may have to reach out to the theme developers for help with this, as we are unable to provide support for third party themes or plugins.
Thanks,
