We have migrated our web-site from the staging domain to live and the events calendar plugin crashes the wp-admin area (any page), with this error:
[13-Apr-2017 10:52:27 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Class ‘Tribe__Asset__Factory’ not found in /home/ohiovalleybeach/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Asset/Factory.php on line 3

Please advise on how to fix it.

    Thank you!

Good evening Jeff and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us.

We are sorry to hear about the site crashing on you after migrating to the live. Yikes!
I would love to help you with this topic.

By the sound of it, it looks like there is some type of conflict at play.
    This is usually because of:

    1. A conflict with another plugin
    2. A conflict with your WordPress theme
    3. A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating
    4. An incompatible version of WordPress or PHP

A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.

The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure (preferably in a staging/dev environment or local install of your WordPress website) and let us know what you find out.

Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.

But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:

    1. Make a backup of your database
    2. Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)

Additionally, would it be possible to know what WordPress version and what PHP version you are running on the live site ?

Finally, I would recommend deactivating and deleting the the Events Calendar altogether and reinstalling it from scratch.

    Have a good weekend,

    Geoff B.

    Hello,

Thank you for the reply, but we already tried all these things. Anyway, as the issue happens both in wp-admin and frontend it wouldn’t make sense that the theme is broken.
Plus, it works fine on the staging server, with the same theme and plugins.

PHP version is 5.4.45, and WP version is the latest, 4.7.3.

The error is the same both on wp-admin and frontend:
[15-Apr-2017 14:18:03 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Class ‘Tribe__Asset__Factory’ not found in /home/ohiovalleybeach/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Asset/Factory.php on line 3
All themes and plugins (including the events calendar) are up to date, and the code & database are identical on the staging an live server, except for the domain name (both domains are registered in our events calendar account).

If you can have a look we can give you access to the server.

    Thank you!

    Good evening Jeff,

Thank you for writing back and for providing additional details.

We did encounter that message a while back, but it was with PHP 5, not 5.4.45

At this point, I would recommend deactivating and completely deleting the the Events Calendar plugins and reinstalling them from scratch.
This will take care of any potential file corruption or undesired traces of code in our plugins.

Additionally, this will not delete events.

As a side note, if it is possible on your live server, could you see if the issue persists with PHP 7 ?

Finally, could you please provide us with your complete system information in a private reply using the instructions found in the following link?

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.
