ParticipantHello,
Our client has a quite long/complex registration form for the events they run (you can see a sample here -it’s 4 pages https://form.jotform.com/60133901580952 )
Although the basic Ticket system built into Events Cal Pro has the basic RSVP functionality we need, it doesn’t offer the customisation we require.
The only solution i can think of is to use something like Quform or Gravity Forms, create a new form for every event (so the submissions/attendees are unique) and then drop it into each event with a shortcode – very long winded and not very tight integration.
I wonder if you have any suggestions or solutions? Ideally a customisable form/ or a full form plugin integration with Events Calendar would be perfect.
Thanks!

MemberHi Greg. Thanks for your question.
I didn’t go through all steps of that JotForm, but you might want this setup:
- PRO for adding custom fields
- Community Events for users to create new events (and edit their own events) via front-end form (including supporting custom fields added via PRO add-on)
Also, all “ticketing” functionality is handled via Event Tickets. If you want paid tickets (not just free RSVPs) functionality, you’d need Event Tickets Plus and a plugin like WooCommerce.
If you want your users to add their own tickets via the front-end form, you’d also need Community Tickets.
I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions.

ParticipantHi Cliff,
We’re already a PRO customer, so I guess I’m really asking if we can build an event regsitration form like that, using Pro (& custom fields?)
No need for paid tickets / front end event creation etc.
Admin just needs to set up 1 complex default form which will be used for all events.
Thanks
Greg

MemberI’m not following 100% because when you’re referring to a JotForm type form and not just entering a new event via wp-admin, I’m thinking that’s called a front-end event creation form (e.g. Community Events, Gravity Forms + Custom Post Types add-on, wp-types CRED, Caldera Forms, Ninja Forms, etc).
If you’re ok only creating/editing events in wp-admin, then you don’t need a front-end form.
If you already have Pro, you can create Additional Fields, as you know.
If you’re creating/editing events in wp-admin, those Additional Fields will automatically appear there for your data entry pleasure, lol.
With this understanding, please clarify if we’re evaluating the need for front-end form to create/edit events or if everything will be entered via wp-admin.

MemberI re-read your original message:
Although the basic Ticket system built into Events Cal Pro has the basic RSVP functionality we need, it doesn’t offer the customisation we require.
gave me the idea that maybe you’re asking about a customized RSVP form for attendees to submit when they want to RSVP to one of your events…

ParticipantHi Cliff,
Exactly.
We need to customise the RSVP form to capture the informantion shown on that JotForm RSVP/event registration form example.
All EVENT information will be entered in admin. (no need for front end event creation).
It is just the RSVP functionality we need to expand to include the advanced example fields.
Thanks, hope this helps clarify

ParticipantHi Cliff,
Judging by that response, the answer is no, we can’t do it? I have +1 that feature.
Any timeline on release please? Or suggestion of an alternative solution?
Thank you
Greg

MemberGreg, I’m unable to guarantee (and therefore unable to provide any time estimate) of when such functionality will be released, but it is important to us.
For now, one way might be to override this file: /wp-content/plugins/event-tickets/src/Tribe/RSVP.php
I believe you can follow our Themer’s Guide to get an idea how to do this — but the name of the folder to add in your child theme should be tickets, and you’d need to code your new RSVP.php file appropriately for sanitizing, validating, storing, and displaying the extra data.
Another potential option is to use something like Gravity Forms and other form plugins I previously mentioned.
I hope this info helps! Thanks for your understanding regarding release estimates.

ParticipantHey Cliff,
Instead of re-inventing the wheel and trying to make Events Calendar perform as a full-function form plugin as well, why not some close integration with a popular pre-existing plugin like Gravity Forms?
I found this plugin, but it’s 2 years old. I wonder if you know anything about it or if you have any ongoing integration/relationship with Gravity forms? Like you do with Themefusion/Avada, for example
https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar-registration/
This would solve everything I think.
all the best

MemberThat plugin, if it works, would be affecting only the tribe_events post type (Events) and not the tribe_rsvp_tickets post type (free RSVP tickets) or product post type (ET+ using WooCommerce ticket type)
There is tight integration with Pro, Community Events, and Filter Bar for additional fields. I’m sure we’ll see some good functionality once Tickets Meta is implemented in Event Tickets / Plus.
I can’t recommend a specific way to pull off adding metadata (i.e. custom fields) to Tickets at this time because I’m not sure how it’ll be implemented and therefore your efforts may end up being negated.
Technically, though, you could use something like an advanced Forms plugin (that can create/edit custom post types) and have that additional metadata added to the appropriate post type (mentioned in first sentence, above). Once the data is added, then you’d need to use the Themer’s Guide or hooks to display the additional data as desired.
We recognize this as a desired area of customization and that’s why the feature request I linked to previously stated that we’re going to eventually be implementing it.
I hope this sheds some light on the situation and possible temporary workarounds.

MemberGreg, thanks for your question. I can appreciate your position and timing needs.
The best I can do is point you to the public feature request.
I hope it helps in some way.
