We are experiencing the following issue with recurring events in Chrome:
“I was just creating some calendar events on our live website. There were two events ‘Baseball Game – Home’, and ‘Baseball Game – Away’, which both had multiple dates/times. I created the first one ok, then on the second one I decided to give it a tag of ‘Baseball’ so all games could be seen under the same tag. I went back to the first evet (Baseball Game – Home) and selected ‘Edit Series’ — there was a message of ‘You are currently editing all in the series’. I added the tag and updated the event. Then all the recurring of events (except the first disappeared. They were not showing in WordPress backend, or the events calendar on the website. The dates were still there in the post though. I deleted the post and created a new one. I added all the dates and updated. I viewed the events and recurring events to make sure they were all there, and they were. I selected ‘Edit Series’ and then added a category of ‘Baseball’ instead of the tag. Then updated the event. Again all the recurring events except the first disappeared in both the WordPress Backend, and website calendar, but not in the event post. I selected ‘Edit series’ and deleted all the recurring events and then updated. The one event showed in the calendar. I selected ‘Edit Series and added 4 recurring event dates., then updated. When I viewed the recurring events they were all there. So I selected ‘Edit Series’ and added the rest of the dates. When I viewed them the new dates were there and the first date but the four that I had created previous to this had disappeared. I deleted them all, updated, then added them all and they were all finally still there.
So it appears we cannot change an event with more than one date without deleting the additional dates.”Our user switched to Firefox and there was no problem at all. But many of our editors use Chrome.
Can you help us?
Thanks!March 26, 2018 at 5:41 am #1488462Jaime MarchwinskiKeymasterHi Ron,

March 27, 2018 at 4:49 am #1489357Jaime MarchwinskiKeymasterHi Ron,
Thanks for providing me with that information. So far, I have not been able to replicate this issue. Here are the steps that I’ve taken:
- Create a recurring event with multiple dates in Chrome
- Edit event series to add a category
- View events to see if they remain intact
Please let me know if there are any steps that I am missing. In the meantime, can you take a screenshot of what one of your events looks like on the backend?
In addition, let’s try to rule out if there is some type of conflict at play.
This is usually because of:1. A conflict with another plugin
2. A conflict with your WordPress theme
3. A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating
When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.
A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.
The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.
Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:
1. Make a backup of your database
2. Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)
Let me know how that goes!
Thanks,
Jaime
