ParticipantHello,
I am not able to embed a single event into a post. When I paste the permalink, I just get the url. Do you know how I can fix this? I am on the latest version of wordpress 4.7 and Events Calendar.
Thankyou.
Kind Regards,

MemberGood evening Jacquie and welcome back!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry to hear about the struggles you have faced while trying to embed single events.
I would love to help you with this topic.
First of all, I would highly recommend upgrading the Events Calendar Pro to it’s latest version (4.4.3).
Secondly, can you confirm you have read and followed the instructions found here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/embedding-single-events-tribe_event_inline-shortcode/ ?
If none of this works, could you try temporarily deactivating the Monarch plugin and reverting back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Thankyou for your reply. In my Plugins area, I am not getting a message to say there is a later version of the plugin – shouldn’t I be getting this and a link to ‘upgrade now’ as I do with other plugins. I have registered my licence codes.
The shortcodes work fine. I wanted to insert a single event as per the instructions on this page: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/inserting-calendar-content-posts-pages/#single-events – by just copying the permalink urk which isnt working for me.
Kind Regards,

MemberGood evening Jacquie,
Thank you for writing back.
In my Plugins area, I am not getting a message to say there is a later version of the plugin – shouldn’t I be getting this and a link to ‘upgrade now’ as I do with other plugins. I have registered my licence codes.
Sometimes, the update notice unfortunately does not work on certain installs.
When that is the case, one of the following things usually solves the issue:
- Deactivating and reactivating the Events Calendar Pro plugin
- Deactivating and deleting the Events Calendar Pro plugin and then following the instructions found here to upgrade the plugin manually: http://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/new-user-primer-the-events-calendar-and-events-calendar-pro/
So I would recommend upgrading the plugins first and giving it another shot.
If that does not work, by the sound of it, it looks like there is some type of conflict at play.
This is usually because of:- A conflict with another plugin
- A conflict with your WordPress theme
- A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating
A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.
The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure (preferably in a staging/dev environment or local install of your WordPress website) and let us know what you find out.
Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:
- Make a backup of your database
- Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)
I realize this can be slightly time-consuming, but it is the fastest way to find out what is causing the issue.
Let me know how that goes.
