HI, there is a site here

The events do not appear chronologically on the pages – it goes from current (November) ones, but when going back, it’s September-June-May-March and then October-September. What can be done to resolve that issue?

    Hi Ian,

I’m sorry you’re running into this issue! Could you please share your system information with me? Also, the first step here would be testing for conflicts with your theme and other plugins. If you would prefer not to do this on your live site, WP Staging will let you create a quick copy of your live site that you can use for testing. Let me know what you find!

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

I switched to 2016 Standard Theme but the problem is still there. Any suggestions?

Thanks for sharing your system info! It looks like you’re running older versions of The Events Calendar (current is 4.6.3) and Events Calendar Pro (current is 4.4.19). Can you try updating and see if that makes a difference? If you don’t see a prompt to update in the Plugins section of your Dashboard, you can do so manually by following these instructions.

You said that you switched to a default theme, but did you also deactivate all other plugins at the same time? If not, can you please give this a try? Once you’re in a default environment, you can then reactivate the plugins and your theme one by one until the issue reappears. I know this is tedious, but if there is a conflict with something else on your site, this is unfortunately the best way to identify it.

Let me know how it goes!

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Hi Ian,

I did some testing on my end, but I have not been able to recreate the issue. I don’t see any other users currently reporting this same problem, although I did find an older thread from a user that appears to have the same problem (his was the result of a plugin conflict). Can you try adding this snippet to the functions.php file of your child theme and see if that makes any difference?

Just to make sure, can you verify that after switching to a default theme and deactivating all other plugins, you tried reenabling the plugins one by one and retesting after each time to see if the problem reappeared?

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Hi Ian,

I’m glad the code fixed this for you! It basically tells the list view to ignore any custom sort order that may be in effect. Most likely, there is something in your theme or another plugin that is changing the sort order of posts, and it’s affecting the list view as well…so, you can just keep the code there or try to determine which plugin is conflicting with list view (this would require deactivating everything and reenabling one at a time until the problem reappears). However, unless you can find something in the settings for the plugin that’s changing the sort order, the fix would likely be the code that you’ve already added. Since it’s working, I’d stick with the code. : )

Please note that this should be placed in the functions.php file of a child theme, otherwise it will be erased the next time you update your theme.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with!

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
