Hi there,
Sadly, my previous thread on this question got closed down before i found the cycles to respond.
https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/categories-in-the-view-as-pane/
I perhaps didn’t make myself clear. I was hoping to make my categories appear in View As box, rather than in the WordPress menu. I’m trying to keep my menus clean and simple – and don’t want to over populate the site.
Also. I wondered if it was possible to suppress some of these categories such as Month, List, Week, Day, Map – it’s really the “photo”. Is that done with some sort of PHP edit?
March 13, 2018 at 11:31 pm #1478539JenniferKeymasterHi Michelle,
You can remove/hide the “View As” box entirely (via CSS or PHP), or if you want to disable certain views (and thus remove them from the box), you can do so under Events > Settings > Display > Enable event views.
To add categories to the bar, you would need to do a customization. I would recommend taking a look at this article as a starting point, as well as our themer’s guide. We are a bit limited in the amount of support that we can provide for customizations, but if you get stuck or have any questions, please let me know – I’ll be happy to point you in the right direction!

I think I will take this out to the community forums and see if a kindly soul will give this noob an idiots guide to making this change…
Best Wishes

You might also want to take a look at Filter Bar, which adds some additional options for filtering (including categories) and gives you options in the settings to enable/disable each of the filters. You can see how it works over on our demo site wpshindig.com. This article has some screenshots and info on what it looks like on the backend.
We do offer full refunds within 30 days of purchase, so if you’d like to take Filter Bar for a test run, feel free to do so! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks,
Jennifer

This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
