ParticipantWithin the last week or two, I’ve noticed I can no longer access the text editor when adding event posts via the wordpress dashboard. I can work in the “visual” tab nothing happens when I click on the “text” tab. This problem is unique to Event Calendar posts, and is not present for normal regular posts. I have not made any changes to the plugin/theme in months and tried deactivating everything and switching themes to no avail. I also still had the problem after temporarily rolling back EventsCalendar and EventsCalendarPro to version 4.3.1.1

ModeratorHey Nicholas,
Welcome and sorry to hear you’re experiencing troubles. I’m not seeing any logged bug reports resembling what you’ve described. I’m also unable to reproduce the behavior on my test site. Can you confirm reviewed our Testing for conflicts guide? If you haven’t already, please do so and reply back with what you learn.
If you already have, I would then set up a test installation on a local server or subdomain using only the default WP theme and our plugins active, then attempt to reproduce the issue. Ensure ‘WP_DEBUG‘ is set to ‘true’ on your wp-config.php file.
If it comes to it, we have a list of customizers available to help further troubleshoot. Keep me updated and have a great evening. Cheers!

ParticipantHi Hunter,
Yes, I completed everything in the Testing for Conflicts guide before posting to this forum. Please proceed with the test installation – Thanks!
Additionally, it appears I might not be the only individual with this issue:
why Text tab not working in WordPress, for editing event details.

ParticipantHello Again,
I’ve just discovered a work around, but I still believe there is a problem with the Events Calendar Code. Turns out my loss of functionality (inability to switch to text tab, add locations organizers) dissapeared by forcing everything to ssl via wp settings. Inspiration for this idea came from this forum:
I was also experiencing a different problem with mixed content on selectively securied ssl plages.
While that issue was resolved in the last update, it appears that there are still several kinks to be worked out.
I do not need nor wish to serve the entire site over ssl. Please advise – Thanks.December 1, 2016 at 6:37 pm #1200619Hunter
ModeratorNicholas,
Thank you for the updates. I’m unfortunately still unable to reproduce the issue you’ve described. I’m able to switch between the visual and text editor with no problems on both my local test site (http) and live site (https).
You mentioned you came up with a workaround. Would you mind sharing that with me? I also checked our logged bug reports and there doesn’t seem to be an increase of users reporting similar behaviors.
Thanks again and have a good evening!

ParticipantThe workaround was changing both the wordpress address url and site address url in the WP settings to “https:” I never had to do this before, as I had them set to http. Only a few people have this problem, because most individuals with https serve the entire site over https, whereas I have no desire to do that and did not need to do that until your calendar started glitching. I just tried changing back to “http” and the problem returned, meaning that the problem has not been resolved. Please advise

ModeratorHello,
We had a bug resembling what you’ve described, but it was addressed in a recent release. I notice you’re running The Events Calendar version 4.3.3. Can you please update to version 4.3.4.2 and once again review the Testing for conflicts guide to see if you experience the same issues?
Let me know how things go and have a great weekend. Cheers!

ModeratorWelcome back,
Try installing a plugin such as SSL Insecure Content Fixer to make sure you’re not getting mixed content errors. Use the ‘Inspect’ tool to see any errors in the browser console. This Identifying errors using the ‘Inspect’ tool YouTube video is helpful. Please let me know if this helps resolve your issue and have a great afternoon. Cheers 🙂

ParticipantI had already used the inspect tool to ensure I was not receiving any mixed content errors. I also tried the suggested plugin, but that had no effect and reported no errors as well. This problem is unique to the events calendar

ModeratorNicholas,
Thank you for the update. Unfortunately, the inability to reproduce the incorrect behavior and the fact that there are no logged bugs relating to your issue essentially means there is not more I can do in regards to support.
We just dropped new maintenance releases available for a few of our plugins, so please try updating to the latest versions and running through the Testing for conflicts guide once more to see if for some reason that has an impact on your issue. I also recommend setting up a test installation using the default WordPress theme and only our plugins.
Sorry again I can’t do more and best of luck resolving the conflict. Cheers!
