ParticipantPlease see this thread for first instance of this: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/cannot-empty-trash/
Now, I have deactivated all plugins, using default 2014 theme, I still cannot empty trash. It is very frustrating. I cannot manually delete any events or use the empty trash button. Is it possible for you to help?

ParticipantDiane,
Quick question. What version of PHP are you running?

KeymasterHi Diane,
Thanks so much for reaching out!
Unfortunately there is a bug with emptying the trash and PHP version 7.1.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this glitch and we are actively working on a solution for this. I cannot guarantee when it will be fixed, as it’s in the development team’s hands now. They need to assign it, code it, test it, and schedule it for release. The good news is that you will be contacted as soon as a fix is available.
Thank you for your patience as we see this through.
In the meantime, the workaround is to add
$recurrence_meta = array();around line 420 in wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/Tribe/Recurrence/Meta.php. This should allow you to empty the trash as needed.I would advise creating a backup of your site before adding this code to your site and also creating a copy of this file, as outlined in our Themer’s Guide, just to be safe:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/
I am going to mark this thread as Pending Fix for now, but please feel free to reach out with any additional questions that you may have!
Thanks,
Jaime

MemberHi Diane!
Just wanted to share with you that a new release of our plugins is out, in which this issue is no longer present.
Find out more about this release → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-for-the-week-of-9-july-2018/
Please update the plugins and let us know if it works for you.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
