ParticipantI get an error when I try to empty the trash. I had my hosting company mimic the problem and they say they cannot resolve it as it is a problem with your plugin.
I get an error message every time I try to empty the trash or delete all items.
ERROR MESSAGE SAYS: This page isn’t working
mauimagazine.net is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500Can you assist? Thanks.

KeymasterHello Diane,
Thanks for getting in touch with us! I’m sorry you are experiencing this issue with the trash. Let me try to help you with this.
How many events do you have in your Calendar and how many are in the trash?
Did you try deleting them in small batches, like select 5-10 and do a bulk delete? What happens then?
What happens when you try to empty the trash of the posts or the pages? (Please make a note how many elements you have in the trash.)
It would be also great if you could run a conflict testing to see if any other plugin or the theme is somehow influencing this behavior.
Looking forward to helping you solve this annoying issue.
Cheers,

ParticipantThanks for your reply. Sorry for the delay. We have 120 items in the trash. It cannot be emptied in any way – not in bulk, or in singles or several selected. It always creates the error. I have checked that it’s not a plugin conflict and also tested it with the default theme. I can provide a login for you to verify the problem and test on your own.

KeymasterHi Diane,
I’m again sorry for this frustrating issue.
How about posts and pages? Can you empty the trash there?
Sometimes when I experienced HTTP 500 errors, then resaving the permalinks helped. On your dashboard go to Settings > Permalinks and simply click the save button.
If it still doesn’t work, after that, then I might ask for a login to take a look around. Normally we don’t do this, but in this case it might help resolve the issue faster.
Cheers,

ParticipantI was able to empty trash with all other plugins deactivated, and using the default theme. I have not been able to identify which plugin/theme is causing the conflict, but will keep working on it independently. Thanks for your help.
