Hi there

On my website http://www.silverclayschool.co.uk when you go to the calendar, it dispalys the current month just fine, but if you click on the month ahead, it just sticks at the trying to connect stage with the wheel icon constantly revolving. It doesn’t move and it stays like this indefinely and fails to display the next month’s data. This occurs on all platforms, mobile, tablet and PCs and I have had complaints from students trying to book training courses for August and beyond from the same page.

I currently have the latest version of the Divi theme installed.

Please help! I’m worried this is losing me bookings!

Thanks so much
Emma

Hi Emma,

Thanks for reaching out to us! I’d be happy to help you 🙂

In order to do so, could you share your System Information with me?

There must be a conflict somewhere. Do you have a staging website where you could run some tests to find where the conflict comes from?

Also, can you make sure you have the latest version of our plugins installed?

Cheers,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy

Thank you for helping and getting back to me. I attach the system
information in a word document for you.

I don’t have a staging website – sorry.

All plugins are the latest versions.

With very best wishes

Emma

Hello!

I’ve had no response with this issue so far. Can I ask for an update?

Hi Jeremy

I think my frustration stems from a lack of knowledge as I am unsure how to move forward with my limited skills in website development and building – it’s just me in the company 😉
I got in touch with Elegant Themes after your last message since they recommend your plugin to see what they thought. This is what they had to say:
“It looks like the issue is not plugin or theme related, that behavior is present on your WordPress even with a default WordPress theme with all the plugins inactive.

So at this point you should contact either your host and tell them about those WordPress errors or the plugin developer.

You can send them my attached picture.

Hope it helps.”

I’ve attached the pic below. Does this make any sense to you? Or is it about the HTTPS / HTTP reponse above? Or is it the same thing? Since I know nothing about this!

Best wishes
Emma

Hi Jeremy,

I tried the suggestions contained in your link (https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL), specifically editing the wp-config.php and functions.php to include https://silverclayschool.co.uk as per below.

wp-config.php:
<?php

define(‘WP_HOME’,’https://silverclayschool.co.uk’);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’https://silverclayschool.co.uk’);

functions.php:
<?php

update_option( ‘siteurl’, ‘https://silverclayschool.co.uk’ );
update_option( ‘home’, ‘https://silverclayschool.co.uk’ );

However, the issue is still seen when I navigate from the home page.

Is there anything else you can suggest?

Cheers,
Emma

Hi Emma,

There is nothing easy or intuitive about WordPress, and obviously it’s even harder if there’s nobody in your company you can rely on to build the website! But rest assured, we are here to help you 😉

There is something strange in your website: if I visit your homepage at silverclayschool.co.uk, I come across a https website (OK), but when I navigate to your events page at silverclayschool.co.uk/workshops/, it’s not https anymore (NOT OK). How is the Workshops link added to your menu? I mean, is it a custom link? If it’s a custom link, you should be able to manually change http://www.silverclayschool.co.uk/workshops/ to https://silverclayschool.co.uk/workshops/

Also, try to re-save your permalinks in Settings > Permalinks.

Let me know how it goes 🙂

Cheers,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy

Thank you so much for understanding! When I read your response I thought – it’s just added by the Menu – I haven’t done a custom link (whatever that is!) And when I went to look – lo and behold it was a custom link….!

I’ve changed it and it works!!!!! I had a look at the permalink settings and they are all https (but there’s no specific point or space relating to the Events Calendar plugin – should there be?

BUT YAY!!!! IT WORKS!!!! Thank you so much for your patience and persistance.
With very best wishes

Hi Emma,

I’m so glad your website is working now!

It’s normal that you didn’t see any specific point or space relating to the Events Calendar plugin in the permalinks settings. The Events URL slug and the Single event URL slug can be changed in Events > Settings, but it seems you have already done that as your Events URL slug is “workshops” instead of “events”.

I’m going to close this thread, but feel free to start a new one if you have any further concerns 🙂

Have a great day,
Jeremy
