I’m returning to this unresolved issue https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/no-ical-data-was-found-at-this-url/#post-1075533

In particular I want to import data from here: http://www.peelheritagetrust.net/events/. It uses The Events Calendar, and I set it up. I’d have thought this should be the most straight forward of cases, but when I export the ics file, save it, choose it under New iCal Import, i get an error message: unable to retrieve content from the provided URL. Attaching the file I exported

Hi Chris. Thanks for the info.

I went to that link and got the iCal export link: http://www.peelheritagetrust.net/events/?ical=1&tribe_display=list

I then put it into my local test site and tried to import a single event and it worked just fine.

Therefore, please follow our Testing for Conflicts Guide and see if that helps narrow down the cause of this.

Let us know what you find out.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
the URL you posted works for me. But what I did was to save the ical file and then import it as per the instructions. So this is wrong? It seems that all websites work in a different way, and the instructions you provide do not cover all eventualities, and I’d appreciate some fuller instructions so i can get the data from all the websites I need to use without coming to ask you in each case. Is this possible?

    Thanks

    Chris

As each site is different and each iCal feed has differing data, it’ll pretty much always be on a case-by-case basis.

However, if you provide the URL(s) you’re having difficulties with, we can try to help… and if we detect any common issues, we can provide an update to resolve any confirmed bugs/issues.

FYI: The first step when troubleshooting any iCal feed issues is running them through an iCal file format validator, such as http://severinghaus.org/projects/icv/ — basically if you don’t get any errors there, iCal Importer should be importing properly.

Let me know if I can be of more help in any way.
