ParticipantI submitted an event as a site user and received an email notification of the submission as the admin user.
In the email I received as the admin user, there is a link to “Review Event”. After clicking, I see the same screen I did as the site user setting up the event and there is a “Submit” button at the bottom of the page where the event is just submitted again and I received another admin notification email that the event was submitted.
As the admin, I would expect that instead of a “Submit” button I would have an “Approve” button at the bottom of the event or be directed to the login for the website and then “Drafts” area of the Dashboard when clicking on “Review Event”. Is there a way to configure this that I’m missing?
Thank you for all your help as we get this all up and running!

ParticipantHey Dawn,
First of all, I’m sorry you’re having some more headaches with Community Events. It seems like there is more going on with your site to blame here than something with Community Events itself – theme or plugin code conflicts, perhaps – so your patience is greatly appreciated while we work through these problems one at a time.
I’ve just responded to your other thread here → https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/community-event-user-has-to-log-in-twice/
It’s possible that these two threads are related, so handling them in tandem is something I’ll try to do.
However, for now I think the best step is to clarify some of the terms you’re using. I’ll do so in a set order as follows, hopefully you can address them in the order they appear to help keep things organized:
- “In the email I received as the admin user” – Do you mean the email notification that arrived in the inbox of your main admin account’s email address?
- “After clicking, I see the same screen I did as the site user setting up the event” – when you are redirected back to your wordpress site, are you still logged in as the submitter user, or are you logged in as the site administrator?
- “I would expect that instead of a “Submit” button I would have an “Approve” button at the bottom of the event or be directed to the login for the website and then “Drafts” area of the Dashboard” – you can set the default status for submitted events to “Drafts” in Events > Settings > Community in your admin, then log in as an admin and manually approve them by changing their status to “Publish”. Is that the sort of thing you mean?
There’s a decent amount of information here but it’s important to clarify these terms before proceeding – thank you in advance for your response!
Cheers,

ParticipantGeorge,
Thank you for your help! As an FYI — I’m running Divi 2.3.2 as my theme. I am going to test upgrading to Divi 4 this week and then push to production if all goes well. Hopefully that may address some of these issues.
Here are my answers:
1. I am referring to the email address I set up to receive notifications when a new event is submitted so the event can be reviewed and then published. This email address is technically different from the email address for the admin of the website itself, but they all come to me.2. I am logged in as the admin user, but the submitting user.
3. No, that isn’t quite it… It’s confusing that, from the “Review Event” button on the notification email, the admin user is directed to a screen where they can edit and submit the event rather than approving the event. Perhaps there is something I can edit in the email template that will change that “Review Event” link to go to the list of draft events rather than the event submission page.

ParticipantHi George!
I just found a previous thread on this issue:
Unable to publish event by reviewing and submitting through email notification.
There is a code snippet included to accomplish what I’m looking for and it says a bug report has been submitted, so it’s okay if you close this ticket.
Thank you!

ParticipantHey Dawn,
Wow, I’m sorry I wasn’t understanding your description of functionality. That is indeed something we’re working on, and I should’ve caught that originally to save you some time here!
Thanks for searching and for your patience with thread 🙂
Stay tuned to future product updates to get that functionality!
Cheers,
George -
