ParticipantI’m working on setting up a new site so that users have to login to submit an event and the /events/community/add page shows up as expected, but when I type in the login information, I’m redirected to the WordPress login page where I have to enter the login information again.
How do I change this so the user only has to login one time?
Thank you,
DawnJuly 19, 2015 at 2:08 pm #987648George
ParticipantHey Dawn,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
To configure this requirement for users having to log in to submit events, are you using the “Allow Anonymous Submissions” checkbox in the admin settings page for Community Events? This settings page is Events > Settings > Community, for reference.
1. All you should need to require logging-in for event submission is to leave this option un-checked. Is it currently?
2. Do you have any other login/permissions-related/membership plugins on your site that you are trying to use to force the logins?
3. You say this in your first post here: “but when I type in the login information, Iām redirected to the WordPress login page” Can you clarify exactly what you mean when you say “when I type in the login information”. Where are you typing it in at first? Is it the default log in prompt from Community Events itself?
These three pieces of information will give us a good foundation for further troubleshooting here. Thanks in advance for addressing them, Dawn! š
Cheers,

ParticipantHello Again, George! š
Here are my answers on this thread:
1. The box is unchecked.
2. No, we don’t have any other membership-related plugins on the site.
3. The first login page I see is what I understand to be the default login page for Community Events (http://iepcheer.newsites.activeyouthnetwork.com/events/community/add). This page is styled like the rest of the Events Calendar pages on the website (same background image (white with ghosted star images), coloring, etc). I enter the login credentials and then it goes to http://iepcheer.newsites.activeyouthnetwork.com/wp-login.php which is the WordPress admin login page with the WordPress logo on just a plain white page where it again asks for login credentials.
Additional information: I was redirected to the WordPress login page from the Events Calendar login page whether I submitted a legitimate user ID and password or an invalid one. Is there a piece missing where the two login areas are not talking to each other?
Thank you so much for your help!

ParticipantThanks for the information Dawn, and for your patience while we work to resolve this issue.
I checked everything again on my local test site and cannot recreate this behavior, so there’s something specific with your site configuration that is causing this.
There are a few things we can do here.
First, head to Events > Settings > Community and look in the “Access Control” section. Are any user roles blocked there? Here’s a screenshot of what I mean ā https://cloudup.com/cghPvHmHws7
If you find any roles blocked here, try un-checking them, save your changes, and see if the issue persists.
If nothing comes out of the above test, then unfortunately the best step I can recommend would then be to run through our troubleshooting steps outlined here ā https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/
Check on your issue after Each step in that process, and see what you find.
Finally, in the meantime, would you be able to clarify each thing here?
1. What version of The Events Calendar is active on your site?
2. What version of Events Calendar Community Events is active on your site?
3. What version of WordPress itself are you running on your site?Thank you for your patience Dawn!

ParticipantI unchecked everything in Access Control, saved and still had the problem.
I will work through the troubleshooting and let you know what I find.
Wondering…could it be an issue that I didn’t set up a Captcha on the community events login, but there is one on the WordPress login page? I will try that angle too.
Here are the versions of the plugins I’m running:
The Events Calendar: 3.10.1
The Events Calendar Pro: 3.10.1
The Events Calendar: FilterBar 3.10.1
The Events Calendar – Community Events 3.10Thank you!

ParticipantHey Dawn,
Thank you for checking out Access Control, and for your willingness to try those Troubleshooting steps.
I’m not familiar with the Captcha this sort of problem, but definitely worth a shot if we’re troubleshooting here anyways! š
I’ve said it before but still: thank you for your patience with this issue.
Let us know what you find with the Troubleshooting steps, those seem tedious but are actually pretty quick to work through and are an excellent step ā if anything, for ruling out likely possibilities so we can go down other troubleshooting avenues.
Thank you!

ParticipantGeorge,
I did the troubleshooting with no luck, HOWEVER I did find that clicking on “Remember me” in the login area skipped the WordPress-type login screen not the first time a user logged in, but in subsequent logins.
Here’s the kicker though — the “Remember Me” doesn’t work as intended by saving the users login information, so they still do have to log in to the Community Events login page when going to the page to add events, but they still skip the second login page, so that’s good!
I agree that it’s something on our side with our network, so I will mark this as resolved.
Thank you for your help!

ParticipantAlright, thanks for the update Dawn āĀ I’m sorry we couldn’t arrive at a more robust solution here, but best of luck with troubleshooting this on your network side of things.
I’ll close up this ticket for now since it’s already marked “Resolved”, but if other issues arise related to this please don’t hesitate to open a new thread ā and, if you think of it, include a link back to this original thread too for context/history.
Thank you!
