GuestHey there! A couple of quick questions before I purchase:
1. Which version do I buy? I’m building only one site, but it’s not MY site, it’s for my employer. I’m not sure whether I need to spend $89 on the personal edition or $149 on the business edition. I try to keep my licensing clean, so it’s important to me to know which one I need for legitimacy.
2. Can I continue receiving updates after the year of support has expired, or is this actually an annual subscription fee? $149 is pretty reasonable for a one time purchase, since your free plugin is quite robust, but I’d be hard pressed to justify a yearly expense that high for our small library system (and we’re not a 501 c3 nonprofit).
3. I want to be able to do the following:
Filter by event category (not necessarily with a button, I can set up a separate page for each) between my five library branch locations
Create a special set of recurring daily “events” for my hours of operation that show up in a separate widget on the page, so it will display the current day’s hours of operation
Allow the branch manager of each library to set up events using as simple an interface as possible. What am I going to need to purchase to make all this happen? Thanks for your help!

MemberGood evening Ben and welcome to the Events Calendar forum!
Thank you for your interest in our products.
We’ll be glad to answer your questions.1. Which version do I buy? I’m building only one site, but it’s not MY site, it’s for my employer. I’m not sure whether I need to spend $89 on the personal edition or $149 on the business edition. I try to keep my licensing clean, so it’s important to me to know which one I need for legitimacy.
That’s a good question. Actually you can totally use the personal edition for business purposes. The only difference between the personal and business editions is that you get 3 licenses with the business edition (instead of just 1 with the personal one).
The license fee covers updates AND premium support.
After the license expires, you can still use our plugin of course. However, I would recommend not updating our companion free plugin if that is the case.
In other words, if you want to keep receiving the updates, you will have to renew the license (renewal fees do include a discount at the time of writing).
3. I want to be able to do the following:
a) Filter by event category (not necessarily with a button, I can set up a separate page for each) between my five library branch locations
b) Create a special set of recurring daily “events” for my hours of operation that show up in a separate widget on the page, so it will display the current day’s hours of operation
c) Allow the branch manager of each library to set up events using as simple an interface as possible.a) This is accomplished via our the Events Calendar Pro premium add-on using our Pro shortcodes: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/pro-widget-shortcodes/
b) This will still require our the Events Calendar Pro premium add-on as well as some code snippets in your functions.php file as can be seen in the following threads:
- https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/restrict-to-todays-events-only-in-list-widget/
c) To do that, I would recommend getting a copy of our Community Events premium add-on which lets you do exactly that.
Let me know if that helps.
Have a great day!

GuestExcellent – can’t thank you enough for your help. So nice to see this level of support before I’ve even dropped a dime on the table.
