I’m getting 404’s on a number of pages, and I can’t understand why.

Here is an event details page that works for me:
    http://test.alchemy.nfusion.com/event/fake-webinar-title/2015-04-27/

Then here is one that does not work:
    http://test.alchemy.nfusion.com/event/international-production-processing-expo/

However it does work if I add “all” to the end of the url:
    http://test.alchemy.nfusion.com/event/international-production-processing-expo/all/

Then, if you click on links for this page, namely venue and organizer, you get 404’s:
    http://test.alchemy.nfusion.com/event/fake-webinar-title/2015-04-27/

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Hello there, Brad! Welcome to the forums and sorry you’re hitting some trouble here with 404s. That’s never good!

The first thing I notice off the bat is that your plugin versions are out of sync. You noted that you are using The Events Calendar 3.9.1 and The Events Calendar PRO 3.9. Will you please update PRO to 3.9.1, flush your site’s permalinks (Settings > Permalinks > Save Changes), then see if you notice a difference?

If that solves it, great! If not, please check out our 404 Troubleshooting Guide and follow the steps outlined there. Does those make any difference?

Give those a shot and let me know what you find. 🙂

    Cheers!
    Geoff

I updated so that both versions are at 3.9.1, and I flushed the permalinks, but I’m still seeing the same issues.

I dug around in the code a bit, and I think it has something to do with recurring events (at least for the event detail 404s). I think it should be adding the date to the very end of the event detail, so it should be “/event/[postname]/[date]”, however the links all show up without the date field tagged at the end.

Then I have no idea why the venue or organizer pages aren’t showing up.

    Hi Brad–thanks for following up!

Were you able to try the suggestions in our 404 Troubleshooting Guide? There are additional things in there besides flushing permalinks that would certainly be helpful to try.

After that, I’d like to check to see if there’s a conflict with the theme or another installed plugin that could be causing this, so will you please follow the steps outlined here to test for conflicts?

When you do test for conflicts, please test with new recurring events after deactivating the theme and plugins, as I am unsure that the existing events would be affected.

    Thanks!
    Geoff

Thanks for for your patience with this sos far, Brad!

Would it be possible for you to activate a default WordPress theme (like Twenty Fourteen), deactivate all other plugins, then leave it in that state for me to view? After that, please set up a new test event and send the link for it over to me and I’ll check it out further.

    Thanks!

Fantastic! Thanks for following up and confirming. I’m glad everything worked out. 🙂

I’ll go ahead and close this thread, but please feel free to start a new one if anything else comes up–we’d be happy to help.

    Cheers!
    Geoff
