Ok this helps narrow it down.

It appears your events are being redirected to Attachments (media: images, video, etc).

Do you have any coding or a plugin that does anything with attachments?

What are the redirects setup in this plugin: Simple 301 Redirects?

    Do any related to attachments?

    Let me know.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Glad it help narror things down.

There are no redirects as far as I am aware in the theme I have had a quick look around some of the templates and there looks to be no redirect.

I have displayed all plugins apart from the debug bar plugin and the events calendar.

    and the pages still 404.

I changed the permalinks to Default which fixed it but then back to postname which broke it again.

I changed the theme to Twenty Fifteen but this did not fix the 404.

So i am not sure what could be causing it still to brake.

Brian & Zoe, I am following this thread as I have the exact same problem and have tried the standard resolutions with no effect. I do have 74 rewrite rules missing though, after installing the Rewrite-Rules-Inspector mentioned above. You did not say how to fix this issue, as some of the following comments were marked private. Can you help? Thanks.

    Brian, Zoey and Kevinogrady,

I also have this same exact issue. Has there been a fix to this problem yet?

As of yet this issue is unresolved. It is unclear why the events are being redirect to attachments on Zoey’s site, but we are still digging.

kevinogrady and Leonid I would encourage you to follow the steps outlined in this post:

404 pages of events that are not reoccuring

Then to better help you both and so we can give you our full attention I would recommend creating your own threads with the results you find from those instructions and also reference this post.

    Thanks

I followed the instructions in all the posts but nothing worked. I was minutes away from finally abandoning “The Events Calendar” and moving to a different solution. So I figured the only way to know for sure was to do a complete reinstall of WordPress, import back all my content, reinstall the plugins one-by-one, and while this was a real pain to do, I found one offending redirect plugin (that was not identified even with the Debug and Rewrite Inspectors) and removed it, and that fixed it!

What I learned here was, disabling, even uninstalling all the plugins didn’t work. Perhaps poorly coded plugins must leave some debris in the database or in the Functions code, and wiping WordPress and doing a clean install was the only solution. I hope this helps someone. Kevin

    Hey Kevin,

What was the offending redirect plugin? I recently did a complete reinstall of WordPress then imported back all of the info also. Plugins were reinstalled then updated since many needed to be updated (including events calendar pro). This issue did not occur until I updated the site. So I’m curious what plugin was giving you the problem.

I am going to create my own thread since nothing has worked so far in this thread for me and this is a huge problem for us.

    Thanks,
    Susie

After a lot of digging and testing with the plugins and theme I believe I found my problem. It didn’t have anything to do with plugins or theme… phew!!

The slug for single event url was the same as the as event url (classes) so I tried changing it to “class” – singular. This still did not work. Then I changed it to “singleclass” and walla it works!!!

Now my single events no longer 404.

Zoe, I am looking over the files now.

    Nothing stands our right way.

In the meantime can you try this snippet to see if this resolves it:

    https://gist.github.com/elimn/877bc90421526d22900b

If you had that snippet does it help? What if you change the single event slug to another word does that help?

Please test on both existing and new events.

kevinogrady and Leonid glad you were able to solve the issues you were having.

Well, as it turns out, my offending plugin was a plugin called Qards from Designmodo. It was something I needed more than I needed the pain of resolving the issue with The Event Calendar. So I had a stark choice to make, and Qards won. So I uninstalled The Events Calendar (after paying for the Pro version too!) and found a different FREE WordPress calendar plugin that is now working perfectly without conflicts and without any cost. So, my final outcome was to abandon The Events Calendar – it was the only solution that worked for me in the end.

    Hi Brian,

Had already tried that bit of code,
I have tried changing the Single event URL slug to event123 but that also didn’t that fix it.

It seams a bit a weird that it does not work, despite have no plug ins installed and changing it to default theme.

It clearly is a bug with your plugin which other people are not having issues with.

I have tried on existing and new events but again no solution.

Yeah it appears to be a bug, but with only one example of it we are having trouble figuring out where it is and why it is only having issues on your site.

We are still looking into this and will get back to you.

    Thanks
