Summary
Feature Release
The latest version of Seating introduces a more expansive and creative way to create seat maps and layouts!
Backward Compatibility: While v1 seat maps will continue to work, any new maps must be created in the Enhanced Seating Builder (ESB), which will make creating complex maps substantially easier.
As always, we recommend testing updates on a staging site first, but it should all be smooth sailing.
✨ Features
New features in this release:
- Map Building Errors: The ESB highlights seats with duplicate labels in red and gives prompts to fix them, in addition to showing irregularities in seating, layout, or reservations data.
- Sections: The primary function of a section is to add a section label (e.g., “Main A-10”) to the seat number, which helps avoid duplicate seat labels and orient customers.
- Multi-Select: Users can select multiple elements in the seat map and multiple seats in the layout screen via click-and-drag or Shift+click, and undo the last 10 actions with
Cmd/Ctrl+Z. - Saving Layouts & Maps: Unlike v1, changes made in the ESB are no longer immediately applied to the database, so it will require clicking a “save” button to prevent live events from being updated prematurely.
- Seating Functionality: The behind-the-scenes interaction with the plugin remains unchanged, but a major improvement is the ability for seat maps to handle upwards of 1000 seats before performance is impacted.
- Seat Maps: The new seat map builder offers a vastly different experience that allows to freely place and orient rows, text, and shapes, along with more customization options for numbering.
- Seat Layouts: Improvements have simplified the seat type assignment process, enabling users to select multiple seats first with click-and-drag or Shift+click, and then assign a seat type.
⚙️Tweaks
Tweaks in this release:
- Seat Management: The seat management page itself is largely the same, but it benefits from the updated seat map and layout improvements.
- Purchasing: The purchasing experience remains mostly the same as v1, with the customer presented with the ESB-built seat map but using the same seat and ticket selection process.
