Maintenance Release for the Week of 5 March 2018

Welcome to the fourth maintenance release of 2018! If this is your first time getting an update from us, maintenance releases are smaller updates between major releases, and are mostly comprised of bug fixes, tweaks, and small (but meaningful!) improvements. We always recommend using a staging site to test these changes before updating on a live site.

To see all of the changes included in this maintenance release, check out the changelogs for all updated plugins below:

The Events Calendar 4.6.12

  • Fix – Resolved an oversight resulting in notice-level errors when the tribe_event_is_on_date() function was called incorrectly (props to @sharewisdom for pointing this out)
  • Fix – Resolved errors within the admin environment when the “ticketed” view of events is generated
  • Fix – Improved compatibility with WordPress SEO in relation to the default mobile events view
  • Fix – Resolved Javascript errors in month view which were triggered under some conditions by the presence of password-protected events
  • Fix – Improved logic responsible for identifying which events are expired (in the past) by using timezone-aware comparisons
  • Fix – Corrected the export of upcoming events from single organizer pages (added to support changes in Events Calendar PRO)
  • Tweak – Added safety checks around our use of the global $wp_query object (thanks @archetypalsxe for highlighting this issue!)
  • Tweak – Renamed ‘Use Javascript to control date filtering’ option to ‘Enable live refresh’ and improved the associated helper text
  • Tweak – Added caching to reduce the number of HTTP requests being made in relation to Event Aggregator within the admin environment
  • Tweak – Improved performance by reducing the number of queries that run in single event pages (in relation to tribe_get_prev_event_link() and tribe_get_next_event_link() specifically)
  • Tweak – Added pagination to single organizer and venue pages
  • Tweak – Improved compatibility with the Twety Seventeen theme (ensuring the calendar is full-width if set to be the site’s homepage)
  • Language – 3 new strings added, 161 updated, 1 fuzzied, and 2 obsoleted

Events Calendar PRO 4.4.24

  • Fix – Resolved problems with photo view pagination (paging through past events was not working as expected – our thanks to Matt on the forums for flagging this)
  • Fix – Improved performance in relation to map view (by altering queries triggered by the get_min_max_coords() method – our thanks to Fred McNaughton, Jeremy Felt and other for highlighting this)
  • Fix – Altered the way recurring event URLs are generated so they are unique even if they take place on the same day (our thanks to moonsrarebooks on the forums for drawing our attention to this issue)
  • Fix – Ensured that iCal exports from embedded event views (ie, generated by the [tribe_events] shortcode) are consistent with exports from our regular views
  • Fix – Resolved inconsistencies between the mobile version of regular week view and week view when generated by the [tribe_events] shortcode (our thanks to Thomas for highlighting this problem)
  • Fix – Corrected the export of upcoming events from single organizer pages
  • Tweak – Replaced direct references to $wp_query global with new tribe_get_global_query_object() function to mitigate errors on sites with plugins or themes that manipulate that global directly (thanks @archetypalsxe for highlighting this issue!)
  • Tweak – Clarify helper text for ‘Front-end recurring event instances toggle’ option
  • Tweak – Improve the detection of venues that need geolocation information (props to @timmy12969 and many others in the forums for highlighting this issue!)
  • Tweak – Display past events on single venue view
  • Tweak – Decrease z-index value on the Week view

Filter Bar 4.5.4

  • Fix – Added safety checks to avoid notice-level errors when Event Tickets and/or Event Tickets plus are also active
  • Fix – Added checks to avoid loading Filter Bar assets when not needed, to prevent issues with event views generated via the [tribe_events] shortcode (thanks @gssiweb for making us aware of this!)
  • Language – 3 new strings added, 19 updated, 0 fuzzied, and 3 obsoleted
