Thanks, Barry. Sorry it’s not working out this time, but I may give it a shot again if I have the luxury of starting an events site from scratch, rather than trying to add the functionality to a long established site. I appreciate your efforts and wish you guys the best.

Yes. It does still do the same thing when copying and pasting directly. I thought we demonstrated that in the video, but maybe we left it out.

We host with WPEngine, which does some heavy caching. Would that be a potential problem?

Should I be seeing your private reply, Barry? I see that you replied to my private reply, but I can’t seem to access the private message

To the last question, we have an event scheduled in Atlanta. Depending on where we start the search and how many times we might change the search, we have seen that event not show as a result when it should. We’ve also tried searching using a word in the name of the event, which is also in the body, in the venue name, etc. and it wouldn’t always return a result. We’ve done a video that I’ll post once it uploads, that can show you some of what we’re talking about.

Nevermind. It seems to be working now. Maybe it was a caching issue.

So, I’ve followed the instructions in the Themer’s Guide and I’ve placed the files in the directories as indicated. However, I can’t seem to get it to override the default style. I’ve tried having the /tribe-events/ in both child and parent now, too. I’ve cleared the cache with WPEngine, and I’ve cleared my browser cache and even tried a different browser on a different computer. When using Firebug, or Chrome or Safari’s dev tools, I can make and see the changes I’m wanting, but when I place that CSS in the tribe-events.css or tribe-events-pro.css, save and upload it, refresh the page…no changes.

Ok. Thanks. I just wanted to know best practice and try to avoid wasted time troubleshooting it if I chose the wrong way. I think, in theory, it will work either way, but from the standpoint of less maintenance when thmes/plugins are updated, the child theme made sense to me, too.

That’s not exactly what I want to hear, as a customer paying for a license for support. I understand you guys have it built to function in a known scenario, but it’s pretty naive to think that people who purchase won’t want to use it in a slightly different scenario and that they won’t be upset when it doesn’t work as hoped and support essentially says I can’t assist you with that. Makes one wonder what a support license is for. Rather than provide that type answer, why don’t you advertise and market the product with a big disclaimer stating that it only works in certain scenarios and configurations and anything beyond that is non-supported. Or provide an initial configuration service, at an additional one-time cost to the customer, at which time some sort of customization help could be provided. Simply stating “it isn’t something we can assist with” but providing no other options, recommendations, etc. leaves customers wanting more. Please hear that and take it as constructive criticism as it relates to my experience so far.

With regard to the code snippet you linked to, I added it to my functions.php but I still do not see the events in the main feed.

Honestly, I care less about them showing on the page, which is important, but I must have them in the main RSS feed. Which seems not to be affected by the use of the Magazine template. Maybe?

Yes. Sorry. I failed to mention that, or wasn’t entirely clear in my communication. After switching to 2012 and then changing the reading settings to “Show latest posts” and then seeing the events in the main loop in 2012, I switched back to Canvas keeping the same settings as I just had with 2012 and the events were in fact showing in the main loop.

Thanks for the quick response, Barry. Please note the second sentence in my initial post here. 😉

I’m following the thread because I have the same issue. Seeing if you get a resolution.
