    Josh,
I just checked the file in Text Edit on a Mac.
The pounds are displaying fine. Euros not.

I opened in Numbers – Euro no good.

    Find-replaced Euro, reimported, fixed.

    Thanks for all your help

Hi Josh, I’ll address the extra columns but can you offer any insight on the Euro symbol?

    We’re close.

    Sorry to be a drag!

    Hi Josh
I don’t know if this is the issue: I opened my file in Wordpad and Pounds and Euro display fine.

Can I provide and example for you to test please?

    Hey Geoff
Assume I am operating in Excel/CSV regardless of whether it’s Mac/OSX Yosemite or Wintel Win 7.

How do I get the right Euro and GBP symbols in?

$ seems to cause no issues.

Some events may have no symbols.

The problematic ones are EUR and GBP.

    Josh,
I have a Mac at home but haven’t tried that.

When I opened your file on Windows/Excel I got the weird encoding, but when I opened in Wordpad, I got the right symbol.

    Could it be file encoding?

Hi Josh, still no joy. All the GBP is going to $.
I wonder if it’s my encoding?

I am saving as a CSV from Excel 2013.

My Euro codes have been entered via Alt-0128

When I opened your example, Euro codes were €?

    that worked a treat, thanks.
Be handy if in the future, shortcoding was available…

    This worked.

I have reimported and all looks well, except instead of updating existing events, it created a lot of new ones.

So I guess I’ll clear that DB table and reimport?

Cool – is it possible to get an alpha or beta to test this with?

How did you accomplish the subsequent import, as the TEC importer doesn’t allow mapping of Excel fields to Additional fields.

    Hey Barrie
Using the TEC importer (not WordPress).

Can’t access pastebin from work, try this: Gist

Should be able to copy and paste into Excel?

    Hi Brian
    Some help would be awesome…thanks.

Since we use custom post types, can we use post meta to set an image? Maybe using phpmyadmin?

Thanks Brian – if I import now (which I need to) and then re-import with additional fields, if the event name and all other meta is maintained, does the custom post simply get updated?

    Hi Gustavo
Well the sidebar widget lets you skip forwards months/years, the calendar view (in my mind at least) should allow this too!
