ParticipantGood morning George,
This is perfect, thank you so much! It’s exactly what I needed! The author is now showing up nicely when viewing the List of Venues/Organizers in the admin, as well as when editing a single Venue/Organizer.
Thanks again!

ParticipantI tested Nico’s function from the other topic and it seems to still be valid for both the /add and /list urls. I’ll use that for now and hopefully those actions and function won’t be broken in a future release 🙂
Thanks,
KarlySean
ParticipantThanks Hunter. Unfortunately it looks like that won’t work as the function is looking for a page id or page slug…
I did find another topic on your forums that seems like it might be something similar to what I’m looking to accomplish. Can you or someone from the TEC Support team please see if the code Nico supplied in this topic is still valid? If so, I will give that a try to see if it does what I’m looking for…just want to make sure the function still applies to the current version of the plugins 🙂

ParticipantHi Hunter,
Thanks, this definitely points me in the right direction! I understand you can’t help further with crafting a solution, but regarding the Community Events Submit an Event form itself…what is its page id or slug? I’m not sure where I can locate that since the page isn’t in the Page list in the admin.
Thank you,
KarlySean
ParticipantHi Hunter,
Thanks for this suggestion! TML is a great plugin, but it actually has much of the same functionality as the current plugin I’m using (and would unfortunately cause conflicts).
Is there another plugin (or even a snippet) that only adds functionality for redirects based on whether a user is logged in or not? In my case, I just need to redirect users that attempt to view /events/community/add while not logged in.
Thanks and hope you have a great evening too!

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Glad to hear this was able to be reproduced. Hopefully it’s a quick fix that can make it into one of the maintenance releases later this month.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks Geoff. If it helps, I’m on Windows 10 and have tried all major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc)

ParticipantHi Brian,
Thanks for the quick reply and for explaining why this was built this way. The security issue makes sense and I understand that an AJAX workaround would be a bit involved than a simple snippet. I appreciate the suggestion!
Best regards,

ParticipantGood evening Nico,
Thanks for adding these additional Venue fields and setting the label to be red after the error message is returned. In my case I just needed to change the “Province” in the snippet to “State” so it would require the United States “State” field. The error message is now correctly shown when one or more of those fields are left blank or a saved Venue is not selected.
Again, I really appreciate you coming up with a fix for making the Venue (and Organizer) required. If this knowledgebase article is updated with the respective snippets for making the Venue and Organizer required, I’m sure others would find them helpful as well.
Thanks again and have a great weekend!

ParticipantHi again Nico!
Thanks for putting this snippet together. I tried it out and it works perfectly for requiring the Venue Name be required.
The Venue field label not being shown in red isn’t ideal, but if it would require anything more than a simple fix, I don’t know if it’s worth the trouble.
What I am hoping you can help with is getting a few additional fields of the Venue required. In addition to the Venue Name, we need the Address, City, State and Zip Code required. Would it be possible to add those to the snippet?
Kind regards,
KarlySean
ParticipantOkay, I can certainly open a new thread for the venue. Thank you Nico!
Sean
ParticipantOkay thanks for this additional info on why the functionality was changed. I can see how this would made sense in some cases. Glad that we were able to find a workaround that will work just as well as an official “fix” in the meantime. Thanks again and have a great weekend!
Sean
ParticipantNo worries Nico. Enjoy your weekend as well!

ParticipantHi Brook,
Thank you very much, this is exactly what I was looking for! Appreciate you taking the time to help with this as well as the background info on the status of the “bug”. Given that the functionality of the default country probably won’t be changing anytime soon, I think I’ll move forward with using this workaround on my production site 🙂
Thanks again for the superb support!
Best regards,
