Sorry to take you time! I think I figured it out!
MichelleMemberI can retreive data by day by entering nwkidsmagazine.com/events/date
i.e. http://nwkidsmagazine.com/events/2012-09-01
If I could translate that into an rss feed I’d be dialed… (and if it listed the event dates rather than post dates)
MichelleMemberNot really. The template tags are for use within the WordPress site. I’m trying to parse the events into a native app. I can get the events from ‘today’ using the ‘myurl.com/events/feed’ but:
1. The events are sorted by date published, not date of the event
2. I can’t get select a particular day or even the month
3. A lot of the details are missing (image/address/time)
4. I don’t want to change the entire RSS actions of the website – just want to get the feed of my events selectable by day and show the detailsMichelleMemberAnd, btw, my events don’t show up at http://nwkidsmagazine.com/events/feed
I don’t want to add my events to the my post feed. Per your documentation, ‘The Events Calendar does provide it’s own RSS feed which can be found at http://your-url.com/your-events-slug/feed.’ Thoughts?MichelleMemberI was able to get a page listing all the events for the upcoming 90 days:
http://nwkidsmagazine.com/meventsall/Now, unfortunately, I’m having trouble calling the events as posts from that url using JASON API. Is isn’t seeing them as posts. Thoughts? Is there another way to call the events? Slug? Category? Post type?
If I could only export this data as an RSS feed… ugh…
MichelleMemberJoyce,
We’d love to use the RSS feed, but apparently it doesn’t populate the necessary data – particularly the date of the event and event details. If you know of a workaround with this, let us know. Using the RSS feed would be our first choice for sure!!!
We’ve looked over your support docs, and it all seems to refer to using the Calendar within the WordPress shell. We are trying to access the data remotely.
Our second option seems to be to use the WordPress Plugin ‘JSON API’ to retrieve the data. We need to know how to call all future events & the future events by event category.
If we can’t to the RSS feed, we need one of two things:
Are the events are given any particular ‘tag’ ‘slug’ or ‘category’ within the WP posts.
OR, is there a way to call all future events on a page (rather than a single day)? Thanks!
MichelleMemberThank you Paul. It works in full width, but with smaller screens (tablets/phones) content is still hidden.
MichelleMemberThank you for your response Rob. I mentioned it a while back and I was told I’d have to pay for customization, which I’m not in the position to do at the moment. Based on that, I assume it is possible. I would also think that this is an issue that could help a lot of clients.
If the calendar view worked, I’d use that as the default page and, yes, the need for the date picker would probably be mute.
Thanks again!!
Michelle
MichelleMemberThanks for getting back Rob,
As you can see on my site (http://nwkidsmagazine.com/events/) I’m using ‘event list’ as my default view because you can’t see some days in the ‘calendar’ view. Unfortunately, with the ‘event list’ view you can only see today’s events. It would be amazing if there was either a date picker or a next/previous day button on top of the ‘event list’ view.
I’ve tried the different template views and it doesn’t solve the problem. It seems the calendar view needs to be ‘squishy’ for it to work.
Thank you!
MichelleMemberYes. I am using 2.0.8 and I can see all of my events. So it looks like I’m good! Phew!
Is there any way yet to have the calendar adjust for screen size/etc yet? My calendar cuts off the weekends and even more when the screen size gets smaller. I like the new calendar selector, but you still can’t pick a day on the calendar widget or change the day in the ‘event list’ display. I don’t really promote my events calendar because I know this isn’t ideal.
Thank you!
Michelle
MichelleMemberYes. My site is already responsive. The only challenge we have is that on small screens the event calendar gets totally cut off. A simple solution would be a date picker and just display everything by DAY kind of like the ‘upcoming events’ is displayed – therefore eliminating the calendar view for small screens. Either that, or make the table responsive somehow. I dunno, but we need a solution as our customers are viewing our site on mobile screens more and more every day.
Thank you!

I’ll go ahead and send admin credentials to the link stated and I’ll stay on this thread from now on.
Thank you!

In the theme directory there is not a custom ‘events’ folder.
In the plugins directory there are two files: the-events-calendar and
events-calendar-proNo custom overrides that I am aware of – unless done by the solostream
wp clear theme.No custom code.
Works fine with evens calendar running. Only when I activate events
calendar pro is there a problemI get a couple of messages when I activate pro
And, a similar message when ’emptying cache’
