    We sorted it out

The “designers” who built our new site also left our old site up (against our wishes) and did some sort of redirect set up

When WordPress did a major update the old site (which we don’t access) updated itself and took over the new site somehow.

So all of the links to the new shows either 404ed or displayed shows from the old site….

All sorted now but just another reason we will NEVER hire “professional” web designers again!

We were using Super cache but it was not updating our site when I made changes.

We have given up on caching.

We’ve also given up on the filter bar

Thanks – we deactivated the cache plugin and all returned to normal

I have no idea about css

It used to be fine – would the developers have changed the css for some reason in the last few days?

    Ok Brian,

While waiting for my colleague to try to use the fix to get the horizontal filter bar working (which still isn’t) I activated the latest update for your plug in and now the display for individual events and the search page has changed yet again – an I don’t like it.

    http://melbournemagicfestival.com/event/tim-credibles-family-magic-show-june-29-30-july-1-2-3-6-7-8-9-10/2015-06-29/

The INFO BOX used to be three columns and is now one long column wasting so much scrolling space.
The RELATED EVENTS is now three shows listed underneath each other instead of side by side, again wasting space.

on the SEARCH PAGE (where the Horizontal Filter bar should be but is not)

The DATE and VENUE info above the photo is now spread out.
    And the PHOTO is massive

To be honest, if you keep changing your plug in then all it does is create more work for me trying to make my site look the way it was supposed to look in the first place.

Still haven’t been able to try any of those solutions yet – sorry. I’m at the mercy of the people assisting me

    We will look into it.

One thing I do feel I need to mention… the design company, Silverlane Studios, told us they were going to create an Event Calendar for us (we were going to have them install ALL IN ONE as is on our other sites) but they insisted they would design a new system for our Festival. They billed it as $800 value and said they would include that “free” in the cost of the website build.

Then they told us they were going to use a licensed plug in and filter (they refused to say which one) and that would cost us an extra $600 (from memory) each year.

Then they came back, after our objections as this was not part of the deal, and said we would pay $299 a year for the plugin, which lead me to believe they were buying a developer license for THE EVENT CALENDAR and trying to bill it to us.

Finally, they agreed the cost was $89 for the Calendar and $89 for the filter and, after much discussion, agreed to pay for “three years” of license fees themselves.

Where the “$800” to design the plug in came from I still have no idea.

As has become evident, they have no idea how to set up either plug in correctly and have installed 3 plug ins that conflict (so far), Yoast SEO, 404 Redirect and the Simple Custom POst Order.

They refuse to fix these problems because they say the Ajax Search Bar I installed (because the Search they installed didn’t work) is causing conflicts with THE EVENTS CALENDAR.

I know this is outside your control but I wanted to make you aware of the way some developers are exploiting your product. It leaves a bad taste in everybody’s mouths 🙁

I just checked the site and the COLLAPSE FILTER bar worked when I tried it.. but the FILTER BAR disappeared completely with no RESTORE FILTER button. Refreshing the page didn’t make it come back either 🙁

Thanks, it’s almost 1am here so we will look at those tomorrow

Did you figure out why, when you check SEE MORE EVENTS at the bottom of the UPCOMING SHOWS widget in the sidebar, takes you to a blank page?

    no

The order of events is still a problem, as you can see if you visit the page

I cannot do anymore testing as the developers have several things yet to fix with mobile functionality and when I test or do anything like that they tell me the site is “no longer their responsibility to fix” as I have “altered it”.

Yet they refuse to fix the problem themselves saying they will get to it in a few weeks.

I think I need to uninstall EVENTS CALENDAR and go back to ALL IN ONE, which I know and use on my other sites

Sorry – the links don’t seem to be working in here anymore. The two pages are:

Here is a summary of the issues we are having with this page

The VIEW AS option when selected as DAY displays the events in order of entry and not chronologically
The VIEW AS option when selected as PHOTO displays enormous size header text
The VIEW AS option when displayed as WEEK displays the wrong week and no events at all
The HORIZONTAL FILTER BAR won’t collapse when the COLLAPSE FILTER button is pressed

    And with this page

The UPCOMING EVENTS widget displays enormous header text and when you click the SEE MORE button you get an archive page with no events
The UPCOMING EVENTS CALENDAR widget displays the events in order of entry, with enormous header text, and when you click the SEE MORE button it takes you to an archive page with no entries
