ParticipantSo I’ve been talking to the hosting company. No errors are being logged. If we cause PHP or Apache errors they are logged. They’ve also upped the memory limit to 512mb, which I’d have thought is more than enough. We do have a lot of events. 4000+ at any one time including reoccurring events.
To recap..
– when editing or creating an event the page stops rendering half way through.
– Events > Settings page is completely blank. Nothing at all is returned from the server. If we disable the Calendar Events Pro and Calendar Events Community Events then we can access this page normally.
– when logged in, our ‘submit a user generated calendar event’ page also stops rendering half way through. We have replaced the WP core and replaced the event calendar + community events plugins. We don’t any longer have access to download the events calendar pro plugin although disabling this plug on its own has no effect.
So what I think is happening is that your plugins don’t handle the number of events we have very well. I wouldn’t be surprised if recurring events exacerbated the problem.
I can disable all plugins, except the calendar events plugins, and navigate to a problem effected page. The page is better however they still don’t fully render. If I start enabling other plugins the problem pages get worse. If I enable enough plugins some effected pages become completely blank. Furthermore, I can enable a few lightweight plugins before it breaks but if I enable just one heavy duty plugin (e.g. Pods) the events calendar functionality breaks again.
Have you had problems before with performance with large number of events?
If you don’t think that’s the cause then there must be something else going on to cause the server to give up on rendering requests.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks

ParticipantHi Nico.
I have an update for you. I’ve since removed any caching plugin entirely. Enabling, clearing cache, disabling, deleting + deleting any left over stuff in wp-content. To recap I’ve also enabled a default WP theme and disabled all the plugins except your plugins. Having done this there are still problems.
There are two noticeable issues. The incorrect date I think is just a consequence of the other. I think we’ll have more luck with this problem: In the backend, when adding or editing an event, the server doesn’t return the whole page. The returned markup just stops half way through; as if php has errored. It stops just after “Use Saved Venue” and presumably before a list of venues. Looking at the venues I can’t see anything out of the ordinary.
I have just contacted the hosting company to get the php errors log. Logs I have access to don’t show anything but maybe the hosting company can help there.
Something I can do, which you can probably help with, is identify where in the code this is being echo’d. Then backtrace to see where it’s erroring. Can you give me a hint where in the plugin/s to start? If it’s super complicated then we can wait to hear back from the hosting company.
Or any other suggestions?
Thanks

ParticipantOk thanks, i’ll have to do that for now!

ParticipantAlso i’ve just noticed that the filters are working in the ‘Pending Events’ category but no others…
Keira
ParticipantAlso that event is a recurring event that ends on the 2nd August but when you hover over ‘Recurring Event’ the date shows the 8th Feb!

ParticipantI’ve just tried putting a few events in and it’s really strange, they are showing other random times in the single event view, for instance this event is supposed to be at 3pm – http://www.welovebrighton.com/event/hetty-feather/2015-07-29/

ParticipantHi,
So i’ve spoken to our developer and it turns out there was custom code so he has renamed the tribe-events folder to something obscure and it’s fixed everything that was a problem before. However it seems to have flagged up a new problem in that when you go to the page view for a single event all start times now say 12am. In the month and day view the times are right and if you go to edit the event the time is right in the backend… any ideas?
Thanks.
Keira
ParticipantAs far as I know there aren’t any customisations…I really don’t know what it could be!
We’ve also got an ongoing problem with Community Events where when I edit a pending event (maybe the time was wrong or something) and then publish it the changes disappear so I do it again and when I press update they stick…

ParticipantHi,
Ok thanks, the filter bar is currently the only plug-in thats out of date because our users don’t really use it so we’re thinking of not renewing it. Could it really just be because the filter bar is out of date?
Thanks.
