thanks Brian… I added some padding and it looks so much better..

It is interesting that I have a border to the left of the view..I think this is supposed to be to the left of the sidebar…and comes from my theme. There is no problem in all other views ie. view, border, sidebar

any thoughts? if not , I will contact the theme guys…

glad to help.. I must admit , when I pasted the code and saw no change to the word “related”(I don’t use the Venue so couldn’t view that)..I thought !!@@***:-( …but then I thought, hey give another title a go, just to check..and bingo………back in business

this isn’t so important now..I managed to change what I need for now in the single-event files….but would be nice to know at some point why this doesnt work

btw…if I did use POdit..would the changes be overwritten next time EC sends an update> this has happened to me before with a Theme…and I had to update through FTP to ensure changes in POedit stayed in place

Hi, no banana am afraid. I event tried just using the code from WP.ORG you linked to,

function custom_excerpt_length( $length ) {
return 20;
}
add_filter( ‘excerpt_length’, ‘custom_excerpt_length’, 999 );

and this didn’t work either…

I have a child folder set up for photo view and in the single-event file I can see this

<?php echo tribe_events_get_the_excerpt() ?>

is there anything I can do in here and then it would leave the other views to the std 55 words which I am fine with..it is just photo view I need to ensure the text is cut off at a pre-described lenght

Hi..if I can ask ..will this take the word count from the excerpt manually pasted into the post?? or would it take it from the content written into the post..as the latter would be the best option in my view…cheers
