Hello Barry – We’ve been going back and forth and it’s now been 7 days and nothing has been done to help resole this issue. It seems we just continue to go back/forth with you asking us about plugins. Can we get in contact with one of the developers to discuss this issue at more detail?

As reinforced by @heritagechurch – they also have same issue. Clearly, we’re not the only one having this issue.

re: PLUGINS – Again, we only have your 2 plugins (ECP and ECP Pro) active.
re: THEME – We’ve tried this on default 2011 theme, 2012, 2013 and our own theme. Same issue.

We’ve performed all your standard troubleshooting suggestions as noted in first reply so we don’t need to continue down that path anymore.

As a developer myself, I’m really not sure what else I can provide to have you guys take a look? The site has been in the condition you requested for over 4 days.

Hello Barry,

I have performed all the steps and the problem still persists. If you use the web inspector the links appear to be correct, but the url is still being redirected.

Events Month View: http://testarea01.wpengine.com/events/month/

Correct Link in Month View: http://testarea01.wpengine.com/event/example-recurring-event/2014-08-22/

Redirecting to: http://testarea01.wpengine.com/all/

Thanks,

Kyle

Problem: Say you have many recurring events (some daily). Take for example, an event titled “WordPress Workshop”

Now, a visitor types into standard WP search box the search term: “WordPress”

The results will be all events that have that word in it. The search results include *EVERY* recurring event (each day, same event over and over).

What we want is that the search results only in the next UPCOMING “WordPress Workshop””, not all 365 instances of it.

How do we achieve that? Can you provide some guidance as to how you are excluding all recurring events in the unrelated ECP setting I referenced earlier.

I assume the end solution has to use the pre_get_posts filter.

add_filter( ‘pre_get_posts’…

Thx.

Thanks. Unfortunately, that does not help. I’m quite familiar with the WP_Query and already messed with it. The problem is how to tackle the ECP logic of recurring events and showing only one instance. That has nothing to do with the main query, but rather the arguments required to exclude ECP records.

For example, you have an option in ECP Settings > “Recurring event instances – [] Show only the first instance of each recurring event (only affects list-style views)”

Why not just create an option to show only 1 instance of recurring events in search results. (why only list-view?)

Regardless, is it possible to at least provide us the logic / code that can be leveraged in a search query to exclude recurring events except a single instance? Can you please provide how we can use the same logic already being used in that setting?

Thank you.
especially since, by the sounds of things, the issue is something other than that experienced by other users in similar circumstances
It’s the same duplication of recurring events that many of the other users on this forum have noted numerous times.

I did the update process regardless and am now working on a staging site on same server (ECP 3.6.1, WPEngine), and now the Week, Map, and Photo views do not work at all. However, Month, List, and Day work fine. Is there any known reason Week, Map, and Photo views would be impacted only? When I click on them, they simply go to last event single page.

http://testarea01.wpengine.com/events/week/ (404)
http://testarea01.wpengine.com/events/map/ (404)

Thx for any insights in how to make ECP work.

FYI – We’re having the same issue (ECP 3.6.1, WPEngine).

http://testarea01.wpengine.com/events/map/ (404)
http://testarea01.wpengine.com/events/week/ (404)

As a developer myself, I’m quite disappointed as working with ECP is costing way more hours.

bumping thread.

In addition to the 2 questions above, how would we even get the older versions? ECP downloads in our profile only go back to v3.3.

I tried using the CleanUp hotfix plugin. It does not work / remove any of the duplicates.

1) So is the only potential solution to upgrade in following order:
a) 2.0.11
b) 3.0
c) 3.6.1
Please confirm?

2) Also, if that does not work, then what is the next best recommendation by ECP team?

Thx.

Adding bit more specifics to my question. When we upgrade from 2.0.10 the count of events goes from 2,000 to 16,000. Seems it duplicates all recurring events. I read through entire forum and see that this was a common issue (@ release 3.4) which was supposedly fixed in 3.5? Though, it seems that it was not as we’re upgrading to 3.6. Hopefully, you can provide more clarity on the correct procedure to upgrade?? Thank you.

This is still an issue with 3.5.1 – We cannot get to our WP dashboard at all. Trying the method Casey described above does not work. Not sure why 3.5.1 was released for both with such a major bug? Regardless, it’s wasted half our day, and we’re still not able to get to the back-end of our site.

I see @wemb45 has been suffering even longer than us with this same issue.

Will sit idle without access to site until given a fix.

With all plugins turned off (except ECP), and switching to 2013 or 2014 themes, the issue is the same.

404s continue regardless of the theme being used. For example, I switched to 2013 theme, and here is a search of the term “Les Beaux” from the standard WP Search widget. The results all have the same URL (with no date appended at end of URL). When clicking any of the results, they all result in 404 Page Not Found. This is causing thousands of 404s on our site and visitors have complained for months, but we’re just now figuring out the cause:

Please advise how to resolve. Thank you.
