Unfortunately the newest updates have not resolved the issue for me since it actually started with 4.5.7. It appears to be my theme which is slightly older and doesn’t get updated by the theme developer so I am stuck.

We do not have the resources in our small non-profit organization to redo the website so I will have to keep the Events Calendar at 4.5.6 and the Pro version at 4.4.13.

The Events Calendar is an excellent plugin and I hope I will not introduce vulnerabilities to our system by not being able to update. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Some additional findings which might be helpful. When I went to the widgets section in the dashboard I was unable to open any of the widgets until I downgraded the Events Calendar plugins to what they are currently on my main site. (The Events Calendar 4.5.6 and Pro 4.4.13

Something is interfering with some basic admin javascript functions. It appears to be with my theme but yet the theme functions perfectly with the rest of the plugins.

    Shelby,

thanks for your reply. We found the culprit. WP-SpamShield had a bug and was just updated today. The previous version was causing issues with the above mentioned “admin-ajax.php” file. Thankfully all is resolved.

I do believe my theme is adding those extra p tags. The CSS snippet worked like a charm. Thanks so much, Nico.

As a work around I am testing out the plugin “amr shortcode any widget”. This allows me to add the calendar sidebar widget directly on the page which seems to work well. Unfortunately I can’t provide a link since I am still testing in a local server environment. It would be great to hear other solutions and especially if a native solution can be found because we have constantly changing events which I need to show on the homepage.
