ParticipantAfter entering the license key and having it successfully validated, the license key changes to something completely different (c0dd33650ca4a412b9e3d6db0079e4d9eba46536), and then I get “There is a new version of The Events Calendar PRO available but your license key is invalid. You may need to download and manually install the new version. You can check the status of your licenses and download plugins by logging in to your account on theeventscalendar.com. View what’s new with version 4.4.7.”
I’m already running 4.4.7.

ParticipantNo, it is not part of a multisite, though the hosting account might support it. https://www.siteground.com/wordpress-hosting.htm

MemberGood evening Karl,
Thank you for writing back.
Here are the recommend next troubleshooting steps:
- Remove and disconnect your license key completely as explained here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/moving-your-license-keys/
- Try putting it back in and after you do, hit “Tab” on your keyboard, then click Save Changes.
If that does not work, it looks like there is some type of conflict at play.
This is usually because of:- A conflict with another plugin
- A conflict with your WordPress theme
- A template customization for the Events Calendar that requires updating
When it comes to that type of issue, it is preferable to troubleshoot in a staging environment if you have one.
A first quick test is to simply temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme such as twenty-sixteen to see if the issue persists.
The next step would be to go through our testing for conflicts procedure and let us know what you find out.
Basically the goal here is to revert back to a bare WordPress installation to see if the problem persists. It also allows us to pinpoint what the cause of the issue is.
But, before you do that, there are 2 things I would advise:
- Make a backup of your database
- Consider activating a “Maintenance Page” plugin if you are doing this on your live site (to minimize impact on your visitors)
- Making sure all optimization and caching are turned off / reverted back to default.
Let me know how that goes.

MemberHi again,
While doing a bit of additional research, I stumbled upon something that might be impacting you.
For a very brief amount of time, some of our plugins where packaged with the wrong license information. This was fixed really quickly, but there is a chance you might have downloaded your copy during that time.
The solution for this would be to:
- Deactivate and delete Pro
- Download Pro again from your Downloads section
- Reinstall it and try the license key
Let me know how that goes.
Best regards,

ParticipantThanks Geoff, the deleting and reinstalling seems to have resolved the issue. Yay!
