ParticipantAfter updating to WPEC 3.2, tickets can’t be purchased. We use PayPal Standard for payment. When the purchase button is pressed and the browser is redirected to PayPal, Paypal says the cart is empty. Only happens on tickets. Other items in our store go through fine.

MemberHi,
Sorry for the issues here and the delayed reply. I can help out.
I visited the plugin page and only see WPEC 3.11.1 as the latest version.
Do you know where you got 3.2 from? That appears to actually be a very old version and 3.11.1 should be used.
Let me know and we can go from here.
Thanks

ParticipantMy mistake. We have 3.12.

MemberOk so that is our plugin at 3.12, correct?
I tested on my site and see what you mean.
This is for PayPal Payments Standard 2.0, correct?
I have made bug ticket for us to address this. I do not have a timeline for a fix, yet.
Did it work on the previous version still?

ParticipantThanks Brian. Yes, it worked on the previous version.

MemberI am not sure of a timeline on this, but to get it back up today you could try downgrading to 3.11.x for all the plugins.
You can download the older versions from your account here on theeventscalendar.com and older versions of the core plugin here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/developers/
And follow these steps to manually update them:
Let me know if downgrading solves the issue for you for now.
Thanks

ParticipantThanks Brian. I moved back to 3.11 but it still seems to be broken. Not sure what the issue is.
December 16, 2015 at 6:07 am #1042261Brian
MemberOk if that is the case it could be the recent changes to PayPal.
Can you try setting up PayPal Pro 2.0 in WPEC and see if that helps the issue?
http://docs.wpecommerce.org/paypal-payments-pro/
It does require a verified PayPal business account, but I do not believe there is a cost to that.

ParticipantThanks Brian. I set up Paypal Pro. When trying to check out with a ticket, it says “This transaction cannot be processed. The amount to be charged is zero.”
When trying to check out with merchandise from the store, it says. “There is a problem with your PayPal account configuration, please contact PayPal for further information.10548 ”

MemberOk thanks for trying that out.
We have a developer working on the issue now.
We will update this ticket once we know more.

ParticipantHi Brian,
I am getting this same error (This transaction cannot be processed. The amount to be charged is zero.) with my wpec event ticket purchases, even though my wpec store sales seem to go through fine. I also tried downgrading but it didn’t fix the problem.
If an event is free paypal works fine. I also tried switching to the twentyfifteen theme and deactivating plugins but that didn’t seem to help.
Thanks for looking into this, hoping there is a patch soon!

MemberHi Yolanda,
Sorry for the issues as well.
I just tested a possible fix and it did not work so we are still trying to sort this out.
We will update this as soon as we know more.
Thanks

MemberOk we looked into some more and found the issue is a bug in WP eCommerce itself and WordPress 4.4
This thread gets into all the details:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-44-problems-with-plugin?replies=40
In short, the current fix is a modification to WP eCommerce’s
wpsc-includes/cart-item.class.phpfile adding the following on line 511:if ( $this->custom_message == null ) {
$this->custom_message = '';
}If you try that does it work for you?
December 18, 2015 at 1:35 pm #1043818Yolanda
ParticipantThat seems to have fixed it for me, thanks so much for the quick response!

MemberYou’re Welcome Yolanda.
Also, downgrading to WordPress 4.3 could resolve the issue.
