wpadminbar disappears when Event Calendar active

Just installed The Event Calendar and PRO. The wpadminbar script and markup are no longer output to the page when logged in. Deactivate Event Calendar and the wpadminbar shows up.
Any ideas?

Not sure what the problem could be. Can you email us WP admin access so we can take a look? Email to pro [at] tri [dot] be and reference this thread. And do I have your permission to deactivate plugins and make other changes as long as I put everything back the way it was?

@Jonah I turned on debugging and found this:
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method WP_Admin_Bar::add_group() in /var/www/vhosts/……/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/the-events-calendar.class.php on line 2556

Our WP version is a little behind. Nervous about effects upgrading might have on other plugins. For EC is there a WP min version?

Hello Oliver, you should always be up to date with the latest version of WordPress. It creates a security vulnerability if you are not, and of course, it can cause things to break. It would be like never changing the oil in your car.

First you can create a backup just in case, so you can revert to an old version of your site if something does happen during update. Then work out the issues of the update in another place, and when they are worked out, you can then make the fully updated site live.

I would also recommend subscribing to VaultPress, which would be an easy one-click restore for you.

We can only support the latest versions of all our plugins and add-ons, running on the latest version of WordPress and on the Twenty Eleven theme.
